Been looking into it more an more, really starting to like it. I am starting to get it now. So to the Pagans out there...when did you become Pagan? What can I do to let this new religion into my heart?

So to the Pagans out there...when did you become Pagan?

In hindsight, I realize that I've always been a pagan from birth. I've been in harmony with spirit all my life. Even though I had been raised in a Christian tradition I wasn't fooled by the fallacious dogma.

What can I do to let this new religion into my heart?

I was just out of high school.

My parents were strict Southern Baptists. I was forced to attend church and when I questioned them about details, I was told to just accept and not question.

I enrolled in a religious sciences course, and studied what I didn't understand -- and what no one would explain to me. At that time I decided I was "agnostic" because I knew something was out there -- a multitude of forces that fills us with spirit and consciousness; however, I couldn’t define how I felt.

I stumbled onto Paganism soon after and adopted that ideology. Under the polytheism of that structure, I also fell in to Wiccan studies. I’d say it’s been about 15 years since I turned my spiritual belief.

I don't know how far you have gotten into the studies but you can be a Pagan without being a Wiccan. You can be a Wiccan without being a Druid. Pagan is the umbrella -- like being a Christian. Under the Christian umbrella there are a multitude of denominations: Baptist, Catholics, Protestants, etc. Look into the different denominations of Paganism and see if you feel connected to something more: Wiccans, Druids, Heathens, Kemetists, Hellenics, etc.

I wish you well in finding your new path. flowerforyou

Thank you. I myself had a lot of questions my parents could not answer but I do know there is something out there. But the more I read on it the more I like it an it seems most of what I already felt is bout the religion. :)

there's no real right or wrong way. You'll figure that out as you go.

I personally enjoyed Christopher Penzak's Temple of Witchcraft series of books.

The Temple of Inner Witchcraft
The Temple of Outer Witchcraft
The Shamanic Temple of Witchcraft
The Temple of High Witchcraft
The Temple of Inner Witchcraft
The Living Temple of Witchcraft Vols 1 & 2

These are all "How-to" instruction books with exercises and projects.

I don't know whether you would like them or not. You might want to look at a couple in a library first before purchasing one.

All of these books also have companion mediation CDs which must be purchased seperately. The meditation CDs are optional. I bought the CDs for the first three volumes and gave up on the CDs after that. They are quite similar actually, depending on what your interest is. If I had to recommend just one CD set, I would recommend the Outer Temple set. But again, that might depend on your main interest.

Also, I can't really comment or compare these books with other books on the market because I really don't know what else is out there. I only know that I really enjoyed these. But these are quite serious. They are each a 'year-and-a-day' course. They contain enough lessons and exercises to keep you busy for a whole year (if done correctly).

Even so, I would recommend buying them all (especially if you can get them cheap at a used book store or something like that). Read through them all, picking and chosing only the parts that call to you (this is what Penzak himself will tell you do do in the books).

And then after you get an overview of the whole thing, you can start to get down to the serious business of creating your own ritual scheduals.

One thing I like about Penzak is that he does indeed encourge you to create your own rituals that are best suited to what calls to you.

Anyway, whether or not the Penzak series of books calls to you is up to you as well. bigsmile

But I thought I just mention it for whatever it's worth.

I've been a practicing Pagan and Witch for about 4 years now. The book suggestions already given are good. I'm happy to answer any of your questions as I'm sure everyone here is. There's a lot of very knowledgeable people here.

Blessings. flowerforyou

It depends on what you mean by "cleansing the soul". There are baths for cleansing and purification. I have an easy recipe for bath salts depending on your need. I mostly use a protection bath salt recipe but there are recipes for all needs.

A good saging of myself and my home is usually the best for restoring my sense of calm and balance.

Could really use any kind of cleansing, have been really down lately. Is there anything to help get some of the darkness out of me?
