I get thru the holidays best I can. Lots of friends, but they aren't the same as family. A major factor of that exclusive club, caused by death. Xmas music brings lots of good memories. I always have loved Christmas. It's time to spend with family and friends. I've had my sad years but I've had many more happy years and I try to focus on that. Thanks for the well wishes. I hope you have a wonderful time preparing and celebrating this season. Life is an adventure,,,good and bad. I love Christmas!! Not the gift giving part but the feeling of love, sharing and joy that it seems to bring out in people. This will be my first holiday season without a partner but I won't be alone because I will be surrounded by the love of family and friends. I may be naive but I believe we make a choice to either wallow in the sadness of a situation or rise above it and look ahead. So I have made the choice to do all the things I have done in previous years and enjoy every moment!! Thanks for your good wishes and I wish the same for you!! Your very welcome, and,,,, WE share a lot of the same in heart,wink,,as I will be doing YOUR same here,wink,lol But THIS is NOT my first year away from love,... Christmas: It's a wonderful time of year. People seem to be more patient and forgiving in public places. Being that we are all so busy, it seems the perfect time to get with family and share food, drink and games, precious memories and hopefully create new ones. A time for union of hearts, spirit and laughter, careess the sorrow and nuture the ones that have had a loss and feel alone, though they aren't really because they have you. I don't buy gifts. I make them. I don't want other's to buy me a gifts either. Sharing their time and love are gifts enough for me and carry a much higher value. I feel the meaning of most holidays' have gotten lost in the mists of commerical efforts. I myself, try to make every day special in some small way for someone. It's the best I can do on a daily basis, not just Christmas or other holidays. Though I admit, I do extra giving for those special holidays as I can. Hug a little longer, hold them close for a time, let them know you love them, with your actions in rythem and ryhme. Love you guys.... Peace Cat   You seem to have a good out-look, and plan,wink.... And I agree,,,Xmas,,,,is WAY to commercialized......SHOP AT WALMART,,,lol,,,,so YOU TO can TRAMPLE someone...... Its terrible. I love Christmas and it will be here soon.But I'm not ready for it,since there are about 20 people on my list to buy for,I always try to get a early start.But in Sept. when we found out that my dad has cancer and it is to far gone for teartment,I just can't get it together.I hope that all my boys and their familes will be here for Christmas but don't know.Hell,I can't even get them together for Thanksgiving.
 They are to busy doing other things.All I asked of them is for us to get together as a family.You can bet,they will be here for Christmas to get their gifts. I love my kids but sometimes I don't like them.For all we know Dad might not be here next year.

I'm getting in the decorating mode--this weekend is when I usually put my tree up
and tweek it over the weeks to come--I get pleasure looking at it- It reminds me of when I was little- and my mom! I'll be spending Christmas at home with my kids! |

having never been religious i've avoided christmas since my kids were young. it was fun having them around doing the santa thing but the comercialization has always made my stomach turn. i try to find a quiet beach on some foreign land to spend the last week of the year. need the vitamin d anyway this time of year.

ba hum bug....I don't do Christmas..haven't for many years. Did a little when my boys were younger, but even then it was humble, and more geared towards the Winter Solstice than Santa and Jesus..as a non christian it is just something we don't do. I celebrate the Solstice..the longest day of the year, the day the sun is further from Mama Earth than any other day...to me that is amazing and worthy of celebration.

I love Christmas.. always have. I am soooo ready to put my lil tree up even if it is just for me. I can't wait to see what I have bought myself on Christmas morning! as WE only wrapped it, a week ago,,,,,lol Christmas is, and will forever be, the best time of my year. Maybe it was all the older movies I watched growing-up? Like, A Wonderful Life, White Christmas, all the Bob hope ones. Many and all,,,set the format in my mind, to honor, respect, love the SPIRIT OF THIS SEASON.........You don't have to know GOD, You don't havr to be RICH, You don't have to do ANYTHING. Just lets the SPIRIT enter your mind and openly FEEL, all the sensational internal love, and giving that expresses, CHRISTMAS.

Having 4 children, we had our good times when we had a lot and our bad ones with not so much but the kids always understood the real meaning of Xmas.. We always invited family and friends that had no where to go or were alone to celebrate with us.. Making cookies and candy was and is a lot of fun doing it together.
This will be my 3rd xmas without my husband and my mother.. its been really hard as you all know but thanks to family and friends we prevail and life goes on.. Got my decorations up yesterday but no big tree this yr. Having some knee surgery soon and will be on a walker so need that extra room to get around (I'm in an apt)... Thanks to all my friends who have been here and helped me get thru some rough times... May you all have a beautiful and blessed Christmas...
