Topic: Southern shy | |

i have a question out there for all. Im starting to get to know this guy and he is from the south and shy. I have dated shy men before, but not this bad. it is like pulling teeth to get him to talk. and he doesnt look me in the eyes. i can see him looking at me when im not looking directly at him. he uses the term ma way to freely. i dont know what to think of this whole thing. has anyone ever dated or know any guys that are southern and shy? Or at least know what im talking about.
Any help for me is great. |

He calls you "ma?" Like a variation of "mother?" Seriously? Does he say why? As for him being Southern and shy, I don't do well with anyone from the South, and I like men who talk as much or more than I do. However, if you're willing to put up with him, good luck.

no ma carries the meaning like boo, shorty, baby, stuff like that Ah okay. Well, if you like being called that, I guess it's good. If you don't, you should tell him. No use in being uncomfortable. |

I found while living in the South (central VA) that intimate terms such as honey, sugar, sweetie pie are used very freely. It lessened the meaning of the words for me but I didn't mind it when they were used on me.
Not being able to look someone in the eye is sometimes an indicator of shyness but not always. I've found that some people who avoid eye contact are sly and don't want you to know that. If this relationship is as difficult as it sounds, back away. If he pursues you then you have your opportunity to explain what bothers you. And one word of caution....if he wants to change his behavior it has to be because he wants it not "I'll change for you"!! Good luck!! |

I would listen to your instinct on this guy. Something is not right about this guy and it has nothing to do with being southern. A southern gentleman will look you in the eye and respect you. I agree with the person who is saying this guy is not shy but being sly. I would distance myself from him and fast.

Slap his a$$ and tell him to be a man. that only works for you to the OP: If you aren't into shy guys, then that is a problem. People are shy everywhere and if that's who they are, then that is who they are. I have found (I'm out going) that it doesn't work with me and a guy that is shy. |

What does him being "southern" have anything to do with him being shy? You asked has anyone dates a southern shy person? What difference does it make whether he is from Ethiopia and shy or southern and shy?
