Take the time to read this story even though it is only a story take the time to read it and reflect on the meaning behind these words.

The Wooden Bowl

I guarantee you will remember the tale of the Wooden Bowl tomorrow, a week from now, a month from now,
a year from now.

A frail old man went to live with his son, daughter-in-law, and four-year-old grandson.
The old man's hands trembled, his eyesight was blurred, and his step faltered

The family ate together at the table... But the elderly grandfather's shaky hands and
failing sight made eating difficult. Peas rolled off his spoon onto the floor.
When he grasped the glass, milk spilled on the tablecloth.

The son and daughter-in-law became irritated with the mess.
'We must do something about father,' said the son.
'I've had enough of his spilled milk, noisy eating, and food on the floor.'

So the husband and wife set a small table in the corner.
There, Grandfather ate alone while the rest of the family enjoyed dinner.
Since Grandfather had broken a dish or two, his food was served in a wooden bowl.

When the family glanced in Grandfather's direction, sometimes he had a tear in his eye as he sat alone...
Still, the only words the couple had for him were sharp admonitions when he dropped a fork or spilled food.

The four-year-old watched it all in silence.

One evening before supper, the father noticed his son playing with wood scraps on the floor.
He asked the child sweetly, 'What are you making?' Just as sweetly, the boy responded,
'Oh, I am making a little bowl for you and Mama to eat your food in when I grow up.
' The four-year-old smiled and went back to work.

The words so struck the parents so that they were speechless. Then tears started to stream down their cheeks. Though no word was spoken, both knew what must be done.

That evening the husband took Grandfather's hand and gently led him back to the family table...
For the remainder of his days he ate every meal with the family. And for some reason,
neither husband nor wife seemed to care any longer when a fork was dropped, milk spilled, or the tablecloth soiled.

On a positive note, I've learned that, no matter what happens, how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow.

I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles four things:
a rainy day, the elderly, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.

I've learned that making a 'living' is not the same thing as making a 'life..'

I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance.

I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands. You nee d to be able to throw something back sometimes.

I've learned that if you pursue happiness, it will elude you
But, if you focus on your family, your friends, the needs of others,
your work and doing the very best you can, happiness will find you

I've learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision.

I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one.

I've learned that every day, you should reach out and touch someone.

People love that human touch -- holding hands, a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.

I've learned that I still have a lot to learn.

If you've taken the time to read this ...........now the question is..........

What is something you've learned within life?

I've read this story before, Kristi, and it chokes me up every time.

I've learned that waiting is often a good thing.

I've learned that angels are brought to us at the exact moment we need them.

Robin I was reading through my e-mails today and found this one in there. I as well have read it before and as before it sure made me look at life in a different way.....

One thing I have learned from the past is the little things that use to bother me I realized that they are not all that important anymore......I don't save a certain perfume for special occasions I wear it everyday now...If my granddaughter spills something no matter what it is I just tell her ohhh well we can clean it up........ one of the main things I have learned is to forgive others and learn to move on.....relationships end for a reason... if they were meant to be they still would be....

Thanks...flowerforyou
Kindness - whether a smile, a pat on the back, a hug, a wink...any caring acknowledgment of another - costs so little...and can make a difference in whether it's a good day or not. Maybe, just maybe, that person will pass it on! happy

I've learned that if you always do what you've always done, you will always get, what you always got.
I've learned that we are responsible for our own happiness and misery.
I've learned it really can be much easier to let go and forgive than to hold on and hate.
I've learned that life is far more precious than I ever gave it credit for and I need to take less things for granted. flowerforyou

I've also learned that just because you "mutual match" with someone, does not mean they will ever speak to you. ohwell laugh

Boy did ya hit that one right on the nail hehehehe

I've also learned that even though I try to trust others what they say don't always believe it all.noway

I've learned that if I'm in the middle of something and my granddaughter wants to sit in my lap to give me hugs to drop everything and take them for you never know what tomorrow will bring or take away....bigsmile

That the easier it is to find, the less likely it is to be the be-all, end-all TRUTH.
That the world is actually infested with small gremlins who do things they think you like: since I like fixing things, they break EVERYTHING I OWN.
That you should NEVER be surprised when it turns out nothing like in the movies.
That love is real, but it's just a feeling I have.
That the more happily excited a politician is, the more likely his/her idea will cost me money.
That child-like wisdom never seems to appear in grownups who behave in an immature fashion.
That too many lucky people think unlucky people are just lazy.
That is really easy to do little things for people all the time, if you don't insist on drawing attention to it.

I've learned if it is too good to be true most likely it is..............bigsmile
