So, if you could have "amnesty" by admitting one thing that you did that was bad, evil, treacherous or awful (you get the idea) in a past relationship...could you admit it here? I said I'd stay with someone forever...but she changed...I changed...and I simply couldn't do it. So, I lied.

You are splitting hairs there homeboy.

Good try on the "someone need to be blamed for the fact that life happens" thing.

Just do what I do. Snifter of brandy. Cigar. Sit out under the night sky.......for that time, none of the small crap matters........it is all small crap.

Is "amnesty" inclusive of forgiveness and a new start or is "amnesty" just an excuse to continue with the status quo? I.e, is there room in "amnesty" for truth or does one simply tell lies to get around forgiveness? Now I am curious.

I have never done anything wrong in a relationship. So no, I don't require amnesty.

Interesting responses...honesty is a tough thing. So, lots of people never did something bad. Kinda like the line from Shawshank Redemption, "Everybody here is innocent!" laugh

I wouldn't think that to be a lie...I'm sure you meant it when you said it.

I doubt that anyone is 100% "innocent" because your first post about people changing is probably more accurate. It takes two...

He changed. He did some really bad things.
I changed. I put up with his really bad things (which is its own problem/sin/bad thing.)

Everyone should get amnesty becuase it doesn't really MATTER anymore but that still isn't an excuse for bad behaviors.

What did I do wrong in the last relationship? Well there's two answers to that. One, I should have never gotten into it in the first place. And two, if I did want to save it, we should have moved somewhere like Florida or Michigan. The fact that I didn't see the signs of what was going on doomed our relationship.

And this is true...but can be said about most things posted here...but respect your opinion and feelings! A sensitive topic for sure for most of us.

When I was married, I did absolutely nothing wrong.

I will say I suck at relationships or even trying to have one now, but then, I was innocent.

i'll give you honesty.

i was dating this perfectly amazing man...wonderful to be around, voice to die for...intelligent, gorgeous, great in bed...

but i wasn't good enough, and i knew it. so...his best friend came over for some brewskies with me and my roommate. he turned her down, she went to bed pissed...and he and i ended up having crazy, wild, animalistic sex on the porch and in the living room...

she walked in, and i jumped up and ran in the bathroom. i feigned a black-out (which i got quite frequently back then; i was a lush), and she attempted to convince me that she came in because i was screaming. said that he was raping me and that we had to go to the police. i absolutely refused. she went to stephen and told him that his best friend had raped me.

i can't tell you how difficult that conversation was...but we had it. there wasn't a commitment between us; we had an open relationship...but it was still shitty to sleep with his bestie.

it was good enough that i went back ten years later for another taste, though...
