I worked on my parent's quarter horse ranch. We bred and raced horses on the track but my Dad was also a rancher and involved in rodeo as a hobby.

I started cleaning stalls, feeding livestock, grooming and cooling down horses at 10 years old. I gave my first riding lesson at 14, to a little 5 year old boy, then I started taking in horses to break and train myself.

I also earned my own money in rodeo as a barrel racer; jackpots here and there for a few hundred bucks. I turned pro my freshman year in high school and then traveled all over the circuit with my Dad. He was a saddle bronc rider.

My Uncle owned a Smorgasbord. There was a theatre in town that would get busloads of theatre goers for dinner before the show. My Grandmother worked there as a waitress and when my mom was sick, Grandma took me to the restaurant and sat me behind the bar at the end with a coloring book and crayons. (out of the way) I was 4. My "job" was to greet the diners comming off the bus. I usually made a glass full of change by the end of the night.
