Of course this is extremely hypothetical....

If the torture and horrible death of you, would create

universal peace, would you be willing to walk away from

your life, your partner, your children not knowing what was

to happen to you....only that the end result would be a peaceful

universe once you had taken your last breath?

My issue here would be, is there a guarentee of this world peace? I would not be able to verify that it was done after I was gone so I would have to be sure, deadly sure that it was possible and a guarentee that it would happen. spock

I have trust issues obviously huh??? LOL

I think that a Mommy's job is to be a Mommy to her children and not to save the world. Teach the child about peace, ecology, love etc and the child can make a difference. Me? I don't have kids and I'm not very heroic either. So, no is my answer.slaphead

Well that's where the hypothetical part comes in....lol
Obviously this could never be...if, just if there is some strange way for there to be a guarantee, I would offer my life for peace. My children and their children...imagine a world without war. How wonderful life could be. I have died...I am not afraid of death. Torture, well that's another story.
The mind takes itself somewhere else when physical pain becomes unbearable.
We all survived child birth...

Part of being a mommy is to make the world a better place....since your not a mommy you couldn't possibly understand. And as far as heroic, I am my sons hero, you wouldn't understand that either.

Realy a great question, i remember a book that talked of a man that did that very thing. and how long would it last? with mans need for greed. some hate monger or two or three. would start something up about how "them" have something the "they's" dont have. like the terminator said in t2 its in your destiny to destroy yourselves.
would be a nice theory, no more hunger, hate or violence. from what ive experienced, from living high on the hog to living on the streets it all boils down a scam. from the bernie madoff to the street urchin thats rips you off for your backpack its get away with what you can that your willing to do time for, or get a couple highpriced lawyers
so for me its a no, but im a mear mortal

Yes, If it meant that my sons or grandchildren would never have to face war or worry about terrorists taking the lives of innocent people, it would be worth it!

If I had been born a 100 years earlier I would have not lived past my 9th birthday, so I consider myself lucky to be still alive and if I look at it with the big picture I should not be here if science was not there so yes I would sacrifice myself since I'm already living extra years nature did not intend me to live.

What is my life compare to the well being of the entire world.

But how do the people who truly love you live with the unbearable grief of you dying

Asked my daughters this question

Their answer

The world would be great yeah

But our grief over losing our mom would never die!

And if my mom or dad was the sacrificial lamb

I'd feel the same

So let someone else step up to the plate!!

I'm not a mommy but definitely feel it's my responsibility to make the world a better place for younger generations...and feel anyone can be a hero to a child in need.

I understand both completely.

Good thing this is a completely hypothetical question, because the question is moot. There has never been, nor will there ever be, universal peace.

Ever.

The first recorded war was around 2700 B.C. The only thing human beings have been able to do consistently is fight and kill each other.

Jimi Hendrix said it: "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, only then will we know peace."

Ain't gonna happen.

Well of course it's hypothetical....

People die everyday for nothing..murders, serial killers, crazy people with no respect for life..
If death is just the opening of another door..and we never really die, those who love us would come to terms with it. We all have lost loved ones..yet some how we all manage to go on living.
I know I have lost my fair share..I would rather lose one I love for a grand reason than a senseless random murder.
