(I did not write this one.)
(I'm posting it cuz I'm hoping someone can tell me who did.)
(I effing love. :[ )

Yesterday a butterfly
Came floating gently through the sky.
He soared up through the atmosphere
Then drifted close enough to hear.

I said, "I'd love to fly with you
And sail around the way you do.
It looks like it would be such fun
To fly up toward the summer sun.
But I have not your graceful charm.
I haven't wings, just these two arms.
I've been designed to walk around.
My human feet must touch the ground.

Then magically he spoke to me
and told me what his wish would be.
He said, "What I'd love most to do
Is walk upon God's Earth with you,
To squish it's mud between my toes
Or touch my finger to my nose.
I'd love just once to walk around
With human feet to touch the ground,
But I have not two legs that swing,
I haven't arms, just these two wings.

And so we went our separate ways
In wonder and surprise.
For we'd both seen God's precious gifts
Through someone else's eyes...

It is believed to be by the same person who wrote footprints in the sand, but never confirmed.

Just a question for my own benefit, can another's poem be posted with permission?

thanks for sharing.

Yeah.. I know tried that myself.
:[

My friend sent it to me..
Said the same thing..

I wanted to use it in a story I'm writing..
But that's infringement, plagerism, w/e you wanna call it..

So, I'm hoping to find the source.

don't quote me on this but I believe Hallmark sold this and "footprints in the sand" on plaques in the early 70's...There were many renowned poets who wrote religious poems yet didn't want the readers to know their beliefs because they felt it would hurt their market value.....

Well, I made sure it was known I'm not taking credit for it..
They didn't say anything..
..and all those pics that go up..
Most of them are copyrighted..

So, got me.

I just wanted ta see if I can find the author, s'all.

I just wanted to make sure, because I have 3 pen names that I write under, however have only posted from two of them......I have a friend who is a lit professor at the U. of Penn, if he doesn't know the Author, then it is indeed unknown, so I'll ask him.....

So, if it is unknown..
..and you use it..
How do you cite it?
Can you use it in a book?

It's a fantasy story.. like..
Example:

A story a mother tells her daughter..

How do you reference that in a novel the size of LOTR?
