Topic: Went Shopping | |

Recently went to the mall with a woman I have been dating, brought back a lot of old memories of my ex. Such as holding her purse and having been asked several times if this or that is cute(I think woman have some sort of cute gene, that men don't possess)
Why would a woman ask a man how she looks in clothes, you woman are always telling us men, we have no sense or perception of fashion, so why do you keep asking the same things over and over. Don't ask me if your butt looks big or does this make me look fat, for I will just walk away from you, there is no right answer to that question. As for holding your purse while you are busy picking out clothes or in the changing room, I know the real reason behind this, to keep other woman from talking to us while we are out of your sight. Marking your territory. |

I hold my daughter's purse for her when she is trying on clothing.....
Is she "marking"????? |

Any of the women that I have dated always asked about how clothes looked on them, I always gave them an honest answer good or bad & they all appreciated it, that's one of the things my ex wife liked ,she used to say to me that I didn't just say what she wanted to hear but instead I gave my honest opinion.
And yes I have spent many times outside dressing rooms holding a purse |

simple solution,don't take woman shopping

lmao @ the "marking her territory" ...I know I frequently prowl for lone men at womens clothing stores.

1. Holding purse: Yes, same as a dog peeing on a pole.
2. When they ask you how they look, depends how long you've been together. If less than a year, wing it. More than a year, probably want an honest answer unless they're looking for an excuse to find somebody else. If they specifically ask if it looks cute; say "I'm not gay! I don't know what 'cute' is! I'm a guy!". 3. DON'T GO SHOPPING WITH THEM!!!!!!!! |

I'd rather shop with my girlfriends Most guys don't enjoy it and it takes the fun out of it for us. I say just let the guy at home to watch sports and go with the girls

My ex and I worked out a solution when out shopping together, if I assisted to her shopping needs first, then I can go by myself to the electronics dept. as long as I agreed not to purchase another gadget.
But she never said anything about lay-a-away. |

Yep. What Delilady said (damn! I want a sandwhich now!). Anyway, on behalf of MOST guys, I must say that generally we HATE shopping for clothes. ESPECIALLY yours! We go into Sears, Kaufmans or WalMart or whatever and know exactly what we want and close enough to where it is. We know our size. We know close enough to what it's going to cost and can be in and out in less time that it takes to get that parking spot right in front of the door. We don't try clothes on. We don't ask if our butt looks big. We got away from the 'mother pants jiggle test' to make sure they fit when we were 8 and evolved to where we can tell ourselves now. Why can't women? Do they bring along their significant other just to find an excuse to harass them (don't bring up "it's quality time". it's not!)? Or maybe for reasons to bring up in the future when cornered in an argument?
To the ladies: keep this in mind when we drag you to Home Depot, Harbor Freight, Sears (tools dept), or in some cases, the Snap-On, Mac, Cornwell or Matco truck. We're aware of your underhanded tricks to get one over on us and we counter it! |

Marking your territory. I have found the solution to holding the purse(especially if you are newly dating) open it up and start going through it....9 out of 10 times they snatch it back....yes they may be p!ssed...but guess what you are not holding the purse anymore. As far as the shopping is concerned be honest about how things look. And when they tell you they disagree with you just say 'sorry, i'm just a guy...i have NO IDEA what I find attractive on woman' but I'm an a$$hole so.... |

Was honest once with my ex while she had been trying on outfits, found an outfit she really liked, asked me, so what do you think about this one hon, told her that it made her look a bit chunky, and made her booty look to wide, her reply was who cares what you think. She wouldn't talk to me for 3 days.
After a couple has been together for a period of time(7yrs.)opening her purse and going thru the contents didn't work anymore as she was constantly asking me to retrieve an item for her from her purse. |

Miko has a point. Usually after a certain period of time, looking through the purse has a very diluted value. I believe in a certain degree of secrecy after any amount of time just out of respect, but when your wife/gf asks you to get a tampon out of her purse, that's normally a hint that it doesn't work. (unless she wants it to)

I was married for something like 410 years and (a)I went shopping with my husband ONE time and ended up sending him to the car because he was walking around behind me with his knuckles on the ground (b)I never asked him to hold my purse.
The holding the purse thing is a power trip on her part. Kind of like, "I'm going to make you part of this scheme hell or high water." |

I would never ask a guy to hold my purse. That's a lot of responsibility, I keep my **** in one place for a reason.
FYI my Dad loves shopping with my mom for clothes. He likes to pick out stuff for her. "Dear! I like these pants! Would you wear these?" Meanwhile Mom laughs in his face "OUR Daughter says I'm not allowed to wear low cut jeans!" It's cute. Also, I like the tool sections in stores. I don't know what all of them do, but it's fun to find out. |
