There is two sides to every coin. Although if I hear something I want to hear from someone I trust, I do get excited before I uncover the entire truth. Sometimes I run hot if it's the opposite of what I want, but in either case I still have to get information from both sides before I make a final decision. I do admit I jump the gun sometimes, but I try to make it right if I do.

I won't follow in anyone's foot prints until they show me proof of what they are asking or want.

I like to find out on my own if possible. I get in trouble with people sometimes, not because I don't trust them or take them at their word but because to like to know for sure.

Now in a situation where the true facts cannot be determined, looking back on previous incidences, similar type situations will tend to steer me in a particular direction.

I was a reporter and editor...and I never...NEVER...took anyone's comment, allegation, claim, utterance, pronouncement, judgment, opinion, criticism, remark as anything more than a starting point. I never went with a story unless I had at least two sources - and not "brother-in-law" sources - and preferably more! However, my experience is that most of us DO make snap judgments, do follow...almost blindly sometimes. It happens in politics - worldwide - and it happens here in the little world of Mingle  . Look back at some of the posts here...The Bubble Boy posts last week were particularly good examples...people were looking at Fox or CNN or whatever media outlet...and then stating opinions and interpretations here as facts, seeing conspiracies where there were none, variously blaming everything from the news media to the law enforcement officials...to the parents to child...and whether he was breast-fed. laugh We often live in two worlds...saying what we would do...and then when something happens...gossip, rumor, innuendo...we do another. Ah, being human is so...human!

When someone tells you something about a situation going on. Do you just take them at their word and follow in their footsteps? Or do you ask for proof of the allegations they deem to be true.

Example if someone tells you someone is doing something or have said something that was posted else where. Would you tell them show me the proof or just believe what they say and play follow the leader and not even try to get to the bottom of what was said.......

Too many times things are said out of one being vindictive and the claims are all false or have been stretched to benefit them. But those that do not question them just believe them at what they say even though no proof was ever shown......

Sooooooooooo tell me what would you do? Would what they say change your habits of whom you talk to or even a site you have been posting on all due to hearsay?...... whoa

Depends if I care enough about the situation...I'll be honest, most of the time I simply don't care...essentially disregarding all parties involved. Usually this includes me simply not believing what someone says, I'm not a big fan of hearsay anyhow and if it is just silly to begin with I won't think much of it. If I actually care, which is rare at best, I'll look into it and come up with my own conclusion.

I really don't care to much either

I always get BOTH sides of a story though. ALWAYS

How can you relie on only one side. That's just craZy!!

Both sides. Then make your own decision

Sometimes people lie cause they are hurt or disgruntled in some way!!

BOTH SIDES I SAY !!!

Always make sure your facts are right before you run with a story. Journalisim 101. In The Internet Age,this axiom is pretty much dead. Loons will post anything as fact, and loons will believe them. be seeing you

James your so right with this not only is it Journalism 101 but it should be something we incorporate within our everyday life as well.

At times one person will tell one thing by the time it gets down the line it has grown to the point that it has added others as saying it is fact when in truth the other might have only speculated of what it could have been....

The original 'Balloon Boy' thread on this site is a perfect example. People jumping to conclusions without having any facts. Some of us were right.smokin be seeing you

That's the "I believe everything the media says, because they can't be wrong" - effect. It's a serious problem lately.

Many have said if this pertained to a person they would go to the other person to ask them. I totally agree with this for there are always 3 sides to the story the way I look at it each person and then the truth....For each tends to add or take away from what really happened.

But per-say what if they were telling you about a product or even a site you used on a regular bases. All due to the fact they were dissatisfied and decided not to use the product ect anymore. Would you believe what all they said and go to another product and in fact try to get others to do so as well. Even though what they said has not been given the benefit of the doubt?.....whoa

The topic,do you get influenced by others?,yes everybody does to an extent, you learn the samething at school as the person sitting next to you,you watch the same on tv as the next man,you may have your own personality and judge things your way,but if you tell a small child pooh tastes nice,,,they will eat and grow up liking it?,as for the history and t.he bible, maby that was to deep?.

Sonds like gossip

I never take things for what they are, unless the person is known to tell things like they are. Even then, i still have an open mind. So if i'm not sure, and it's wirth the time, Then ill look into it.
