Topic: when you lock your keys | |

I have done it more times than I can count. Hide-A-Key is my true friend.
But the locksmith is a close second. |

I keep an extra key at home, and have given several friend my house key. All else fails, I can call one of them, and have them pop by my house, grab my spare car key, and bring it to me. I also am familiar with the local bus rout, and could always use that to return home for my spare key and then back again.
I don't carry my spare car key on me, only because logic would say if I leave my keys in the car, I have also probably left my purse, which is where a spare key would be, as most women's dress slacks do not have pockets. |

I have only ever done that once..and the local police came and opened it for me. As long as they aren't busy , they do that here. Over where I am at the only way the police will help you unlock your car is, when you leave a child in the car that is not old enough to unlock or if your car is running. Otherwise we would have to call a lock smith. |

Whenever you buy a vehicle, the very first thing you should always, ALWAYS, ALWAYS do is go get at least two more copies of the key(s) made. Buy a Hide-A-Key (one of those magnetic key holders) and hide it somewhere on the outside of the vehicle with one of the spare keys inside. Make sure it's in a secure location, so it can't vibrate off. Make sure the location is accessible, but not obvious.
I have NEVER been locked out of any vehicle I have ever owned, simply because I follow this extremely simple rule of thumb. It's so hard to believe how something so simple and common sense can be so uncommon for most people. I don't get it. |

problem with making copies is that these new chipped keys cost like a hundred dollars to make a copy
I can't lock my keys in my car cause I use the fob to beep it. If my keys are in the car I can't beep it |

Rather than wasting time, I call the locksmith. It's covered in my insurance.
