What if this had happened in Roswell, New Mexico 1947? Would we have a different story? Or would it be about the same?

Are we done yet about hearing about the stupid balloon family from Ft. Collins, CO? OMG what a stupid story! My father says, it was picked up because it was a slow news week, and that's the best they could come up with. Now this trash is a media sensation, when this quite possibly is the weakest news story of 2009. What do you all think? Was it a hoax? Media hype? Who the hell was in charge of those tethers anyway? Come on guys, bash and trash!

Usually when your tired of hearing about something you do not talk about it.

Yes, you can, but then people you know keep bringing it up, and then I'm like "Enough already." Let's talk baseball, or this week's NFL matchups, or the healtcare debate, not the balloon family.

if you've had enough already, why would YOU bother starting a thread about it?

Hummm if it was so stupid then it must have caught your attention since you brought it up. So guess it must be news after all.... hehehe:tongue:

Oh, hoh, hoh! Actually when I first heard this story, I was like, "WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?" Then my father and sister got interested in it. And I was like "Don't you have anything better to do?" And they have been non-stop about this for the last 3 days. I mean really, WTF? Come on, there's better stories out there than this twisted manufactured fiction. The truth is out there!

Well now ya got to admit that it was pretty interesting till it came out the kid was actually at home in the attic in a box......

Then it was ohhhh chit someone needs to wear that boys backside out with a belt.....

But regardless heck it was better then hearing about all the bad stuff in the world besides it kind of gave us something besides the war or the swine flu to talk about.....bigsmile

Yea I think the "happy ending" story is part of it but I also think the media would really like to see this so called "Dad/Mom" be the one in a box hiding in an attic. I really feel sorry for those kids living with that. Makes me reconsider the idea that some people need a license to have the lives of a child in there hands.

Yes I am sick of it, but I heard the father saying to the Larry King fill in that he was appalled on what they were asking.

What are the charges, Child endangerment, neglect. I was wondering if that was going to happen.

(CNN) -- Authorities in Colorado say criminal charges are expected to be filed against Richard Heene, a storm-chasing father whose giant Mylar balloon ascended into the sky earlier this week -- sparking fears that his 6-year-old was aboard.

Richard Heene offers a cardboard box Saturday to receive questions about his son and about his famous balloon.

"We anticipate criminal charges will be filed sometime in the near future," Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderden told CNN.

The saga captured the nation's attention early Thursday afternoon, after authorities reported the family's homemade helium balloon was set adrift, apparently with young Falcon Heene inside.

Rescuers from several counties followed the silver, saucer-like vessel as it raced across the Colorado sky until it made a soft landing some 90 minutes later in a field 90 miles away.

The boy later came down from an attic above the family's garage. Watch the latest on Colorado balloon family »

Alderden said Friday that they planned to re-interview the family as speculation mounted that the incident was staged.

"We feel it's incumbent on us as an agency to attempt to re-interview them and establish whether this is in fact a hoax or actual event," he said.

"We believe at this time that it's a real event."

The development comes on the same day that Heene emerged from his Fort Collins house and offered a cardboard box for the media to submit questions. Watch Heene reveal question box »

"I got people e-mailing me, calling me; they've got a lot of questions, and I don't know how to quite frankly answer any of them other than I've got a box," Heene said around 10 a.m.

He said he'd answer the questions later Saturday night.

"I'm going to place the box up front. Please write your questions down," he said. "I have no idea what the news are saying. I don't have cable."

Heene did answer one question shouted out from a reporter, responding that the runaway balloon incident was "absolutely no hoax."

Speculation began to mount over whether the incident was staged after the family appeared on CNN's "Larry King Live" on Thursday night.

Heene asked Falcon why he had not come out from hiding when his parents were calling for him.

"You guys said we did this for the show," the boy said.

Heene said his son was confused when he made the "show" remark. There were media assembled on the front lawn asking all sorts of questions, and that's what Falcon was referring to, Heene said.

The video clips make a heck of a case for verbal and emotional abuse. Leaving and attractive nuciance in and un secured area was majorly STUPID.
