Any of you who have watched any football games in the last week and a half would know this too. The players wore pink armbands, pink shoes, pink socks, the refs wore pink armbands, and many of the coaches had pink-brimmed hats. The NFL is on board with BCA month.

That's because many of their wives have been diagnosed with it.

ppl will think what they think. i think it shouldn't matter. i think you should do whats right and comfortable for you. and if they stare or say anything, wave, say hi and introduce yourself. it may change their opinions.

I for one am so glad about BCA month, because I have learned alot about my condition, and cancer in general.

At first, I didnt want to know, or hear anything about it...

JUST TREAT ME DOC.

NOW.....

I decied what kind of therapy I get this week, and for how long, ALONG with my doctor...

who BTW totally rocks!!!Big props for Dr Rahatki!!!!

He and his staff have been just wonderful to me.

Let me take you back to the first day they told me I had cancer.
I wanted to die. Right then, and right there. They had me under a suicide watch in the hospital....really! But ive come a long way baby, to get to a place where I remembered who the hell I was, and how NOTHING OR NO ONE tells me what to do, except for God.And he wants me right here....right now. And for a long time to come.

So you see, I wasent slways a rock...

but as ive said many times before....

"Rockers dont break, we bounce"....

WATCH ME BOUNCE!

I was attending a party and was asked to wear that cute little brown wig that I sometimes wear....

I didnt like it.

They asked you to cover up who you are? That's shocking! You have a gorgeous smile and that's the only part of the head that I ever look at.
You are who you are and you are pretty.flowerforyou

You all know im bald...right? Well I do have the softest little peach fuzz...heehee.

Well I wanna know how you feel about this.

Its not always comfortable to wear a wig, and I sometimes just go out freestyle(bare)on the head.

Do you think it should be an issue to anyone.

It certainly isnt to me....

cause....

I am beautiful:banana:
no matter what they say:banana:

I was attending a party and was asked to wear that cute little brown wig that I sometimes wear....

I didnt like it.

I ran into people who ask me to hide my disability by exhausting myself and not useing my wheelchair and walking with a cane or nothing at all. Because at one point, they couldn't see it was still excruciateingly painful as my joints and muscles were not rehabbed that I could stand was all they cared about. To hell with the fact that a fall could destroy hours of work much less hurt like hell and embarrass me no end.

I think it was because they wanted me to be done; be recovered. Sometimes that really is love sometimes it is just trauma fatigue. In and "instant" society where most people's experience with illness or disability is three day bout with a stomache virus or a sprained ankle longer more difficult battles are something they really can't understand. Not getting well is something they just can't comprehend at all.

Having a condition that can be fatal scares the hell out of others; even real friends who sometimes put their foot in their mouth. Since people are often thinking of their own discomfort (like those of us who have to look down the barrel of our own mortality are not scared to death too)they tend to react to that fear even if they don't know it.

Weather people who are not disabled (even temporarily) or not want to admit it they are a little jealouse of the disability because they see it as and unfair advantage for attention or empathy. Particularly difficult for women whom want men to want to protect them too.

Last but not least sometimes those who do have a disability sometimes do try a little too hard to over compensate or feel the light shin on us because of the disability. Personally I feel the rare time it is an advantage it is something one shouldn't have to apologize for.

I feel the choice to say "Screw it this is me! Take it or leave it" is always a personal right. The flip side of it is sometimes there are consequences. From others and sometimes your own. If you feel like you betrayed yourself nobody wins.

Sometimes having the right to be "off duty" and avoid the disability or being the "Poster Child" for it is only fair if you want to.

Not as simple an experience as it seems.

As far as how you look, well you know your natural beauty doesn't depend on your hair. Really no one's does. But darlin you are the exceptional natural beauty. So go whatever way you decide and don't apoligize EVVVVER!

the only thing that matters, in my opinion, is that you are a survivor.

the peach fuzz is an affirmation and that, in itself, is a beautiful thing. (besides the fact of your obvious physical beauty)

and to hell with people who are offended/bothered.
