A few months ago my girlfriend and I saw the trailer for this flick when we went to the movies, and have been stoked to see it ever since. My mind was rampant with thoughts of revenge spilled across the screen, and had hyped myself up for this movie so badly that I knew in the back of my head that I was probably going to be let down. Was I?

Hell no I wasn’t!! This movie was everything I was hoping for and more. There were definitely a few moments I never would have seen coming, and loved how the story started right from the get go.

Gerard Butler was amazing as Clyde Shelton, the film’s main character. He brought a depth to this character that I didn’t think he was able to do, as I was under the assumption that he was just the normal macho tough guy kind of character he portrayed in 300 and Gamer. I was very pleasantly surprised to be proven wrong in a most welcome way.

I am not a Jamie Fox fan in the least, and I absolutely hated his character in it, but that is a good thing, as he did a great job at making me hate him.

Bottom line, I loved this movie, and I think it is probably the best movie to be released so far this year (and I have seen tons of movies this year). Not only is it a badass revenge driven flick, but it also pokes at the obvious flaws that are in our legal system, as well as throwing in some damned funny moments in as well.

I actually feel that Fox's acting has come a long...LONG....way since he started. Butler? I am just glad that he finally got a breakout role (300) cause when I first saw him in Dracula 2000, I felt he had star potential. He isn't just some action guy either. He can do romantic comedy as well (PS..I LOVE YOU).

Anyways, I want to see this flick, and after reading the review here, I now must see it.

that is true, his acting has come a long way, but i'm just not a fan of him. loved Collateral, but thought he was terrible, although i must say that i did like him in Jarhead.
definitely check it out Goof, you'll dig it.

cool review

thanks, but could you please leave the twilight stuff off of here? i loath that movie, and well, it just doesnt really have a place in this thread..

Fox was awesome in Jarhead, and I actually felt his role in Collateral was better than his Oscar winning performance in Ray.

BTW...how was Gamer? I did not get a chance to see it.

i never saw Ray because the media was bombarted with advertisements for it that i was sick of hearing about it and didnt even bother.
i haven't seen all of Gamer yet, i have a bootleg cause i wasnt able to go see it. danielle (spirograph) watched my bootleg while i was in class and said it was really good though

This movie had me peeking through my fingers a few times - and I can admit there was even a time my body was shaking...

There is no wasting time getting into the plot at all - and there was no checking the watch to see how much time was left in the movie; it's fast paced and never allows you to become bored.

It definitely makes one think about our judicial system and how we ourselves view what is right/wrong, etc.

Some of the scenes were a bit much for me (I'm not a fan of bloody/gore type movies).

The only Gerard Butler movie I had seen before this one was P.S. I Love You; he proves by his acting in Law Abiding Citizen that he can carry out any role given to him well.

(and he made me cry in this one too...)

Thanks for posting about this movie so I had a place to share my thoughts on it also.

you're more than welcome!

he definitely gave an emotional performance didnt he? i see really good things in this guys future now that he has shown more of a range in his acting skills.

and yeah, there were some gory scenes, but i didnt think they were gratuitous at all, they served the plot very well in my opinion.

thanks for sharing your thoughts!
