Love isn't just a simple emotion. Sadness is. Can be cured with medication, positive thinking, etc. Anger is. Can be cured by meditation, medication, etc etc. Certain events usually cause 'emotions' to come forth. Love cannot be controlled. There doesn't need to be a grand scheme in events to make one feel it's power. As simple as inhaling her scent.. That can provoke love. Ideally, not in its truest of forms, but never-the-less, its presence is known. Depression, anger, etc, they can make ppl do pretty retarded things.. ..but most doesn't involve high levels of self sacrifice that love has been known to do.. I.E.: Running into a burning building seconds before you know its going to collapse to save that someone.. Risking your very life for another being.. Devoting that every inch of being and soul... If you believe love to be nothing more then a simple emotion, well, then it is the root of all emotions; like a massive tree, each branch is derived from its roots. Without love, hate would not be so widespread. Depression wouldn't be so world wide. People would care less about the things the value and love.. Possessions for example.. Who cares if I was robbed.. phuck it means nothing. Now who honestly says that? Think what you want about love.. ..but I doubt I'd classify it as a mere, typical, everyday emotion. I can help being angry. I can help being depressed. But hell if I know how to avoid falling for someone.. Love doesn't really exist, I think it is primarily a 'trigger mechanism' for lack of better words. Moreso just an action to an unknown event, a feeling never felt, of course, this must be love! Though rarely is that the case, more often than not it is merely lust or a selfish motivation. Essentially all relationships start with a selfish outlook and a conceited motivation, we don't merely get into a relationship most of the time because we want one but usually because society as a whole pushes us in that direction. I love the argument that a relationship is necessary for survival or that in some way, shape, or form I am supposed to have a significant other. Sorry, but I fail to see the necessity. |
