Yep...laid off for a year and 1/2....unemployment ran out, lost my house, had to put my dog down because the family I am staying with could not accommodate her and she was too old for anyone to want...have sold nearly everything I owned for food, etc....and thinking that if I had to live in my car...I would probably get a flippin' parking ticket!ohwell It has to get better sometimebigsmile

I think it sucks that those that serve our country get paid so little, from the military to the fire department and police officers....you guys could never earn enough for what you do.

They pay us by taxing everyone who lives in the US... its kidda weird that our government can help out other countries but when it comes to helping out people in our country than they make you fill out a bunch of papers and wait a long time

Amen to that...along with a million other things that are wrong with our government....but...it's still the best one available...so I'll take it! Suffering is simply a part of life, and it's what we do with it and what we learn from it that counts....God Bless you

I guess I am one of the luckiest around. Yes I have debts, and before the recession took a bite I was working around various recruitment agencies. And then I had 6-8 weeks in the After Christmas slump where all the temps left, And companies had over budgeted and overspent.

Then Feb 09 comes along, I get a call for an interview for the Hilton Hotel chain no less, Date and time? 10:30am FRIDAY 13th Feb... lol

10 days later I started, at the 40 hours a week rate that I'm contracted for (ok so its 39, but yeah one spare hour aint a problem).

Since the beginning of May however, 1st week was just me, @ 80.5 hrs working time. Then since that first week, there has been me and one other guy doing 50-55 hour average weeks. So according to their contract functionality - because we're only 2 and we cant get any lieu days we're being paid overtime.. anything over 39 hrs in a week is classified as overtime. Bank holidays are not fun to work, but they're paid better.

My advice. Work as a Kitchen Porter. Lol. They're always in high demand because of the number of people that can handle the job role dont stick around in it for long enough.

Yes we do have the best government, but not the best people representing our country
