i want a LDR that eventually could be more. i thought internet dating would be good for this. but everyone wants local, and requires a picture before talking. i think they just want sex. whats even worse, they dont want sex with me... cause no one talks with me. ive given up with local searches and eventually would like to move to another state. i have penpals from other sites, but theyre not dating sites, and were just friends.

There are several LDR that have gone on to weddings..Congrats to them! I have not had much luck with LD or local, just a couple. But I have made many good friends on here and another site and met some in person... I have had a penpal for 55 yrs and we have met several times...

Photos are important and not because people only want sex.

I've personally never had a LDR, I often think I "could" do it, just haven't found the "one". If I did happen to fall into a LDR, it would have to change within a certain period of time.. give it a year or whatever is agreed upon. JMHO

You can write with whatever implement you choose and scented stationery is not required (ewwww!) I actually write a couple of notes/letters a week and get at least one or two back in the mail every week. It's GREAT (& sure beats a mailbox full of bills or junk mail!) I also have a German pen-pal that I've been writing to since we were twelve years old. We got hooked up through some teen magazine & the friendship has endured.

Despite the jokes, it's wonderful...you can't hold an email in your hand and read/re-read it with a cup of tea or a glass of wine. There's something unique about the tangibility of a letter or a card. Some old-fashioned things are pretty cool.

There is something special in the word on paper, seeing the handwriting and signature of someone dear, now gone.
