Topic: Do you have a secretary at work? | |

And if you do, do you ever feel bad for making them do things for you?
Today I felt bad. I asked her to get me a cup of coffee and I felt terrible. I felt guilty that I asked her to do this instead of getting it myself. I mean, who the hellll am I? I hired her. She's early 50's and an awesome person. I do nice things for her and her family. Her husband is an avid fisherman and set him up on a week long vacation in Wisconsin that I paid for this summer. So I try to do the right things and treat her well. But today I felt guilty. It was weird. |

I AM the secretary
assistant/bookeeper/scheduler/biller-and housekeeper at my office! oh and I'm 50 too.... |

If it makes you feel weird don't do it. Get your own coffee, bring enough to the meeting to last through it, call a coffee break during the meeting, or do without.

When I managed an office I had a secretary. Several actually. Nothing naughty ever happened. I feared sexual harrasment lawsuits too much. I replaced the last guy that got busted on sexual harrasment. I favored the secretary (her name was Laura)that could get the job done the best.

My question to you: is fixing, brewing coffee for you or running errands for you is part of her job description?
