I had to go in for Jury Duty the other day. I got picked initially for a murder trial but ended up excused by the defense attorneys during selection. It took them from 8 am to 5 pm to do this.

What a long process it can be.

The judge reminded us during the process that in old times one way of determining innocence was to tie a rock around your neck if you sank you were innocent if not you were quilty. Gotta be glad we evolved at least that much huh?

Anyone else served jury duty?

Never selected as a juror, but have been through the process on four occasions. Only once was my name ever called, but I was dismissed.

My name has been drawn up 3 times in the past however in all instances I was dismissed.Yay!;)What's truly hilarious about all of this is the mere pittance that U are offered each day while serving. My response was"are U serious?"lol. No! thx! I need to stay at my job & earn a living to support my family. flowerforyou

If I remember the last one I received stated that you must attended or you could be cited, fined etc. I believe companies must let you off. I have been called many times, I never have been picked to be on an actual jury but it takes up one to two days just sitting in the court house around waiting for them to tell you what to do next.
I do not belive they will take an excuses even if you lose work and money!!! This may differ by state?

That was in NZ now I'm in Auz and not technically a permanent resident so won't be called... I'm sooooo upset:banana:
