Topic: If you had one slogan/saying to live by... | |
---|---|
I was not sure where to post this topic. I figured it deals with mostly metaphors and such, so I am pretty sure it belongs here.
In this topic, what is your personal slogan? Something you live by every day, or you believe in should be a part of it. I want people to post their slogan/saying, and also a description or interpretation of it. Most can come off crazy, but once interpreted by the person, it can mean a lot of sense. I will start with mine: ---------- My slogan: "Guns for show, knives for a pro." Meaning: This can relate to anything in life. Of course you can have the easy way out but in the end you will soon find yourself obligated to learn the basic mechanics of what you are doing/learning. (An example is let's say you are learning a flashy new web development program. You then run into a problem that you cannot solve. Sometimes, learning the "old school" or hard coded computer language may be the shortest way out of that problem.) ---------- Anyone else? This can get interesting! |

I have a list of rules/sayings/mottos that I live by, and here are some of them. Most of these came about due to me spending almost 9 years in the army, and another almost 9 years working corrections here in Chicago. They're in no specific order.
1. Never bring a knife to a gun fight. 2a. Know who has your back. 2b. Make sure they know that you have their back. 3. Never cause someone any undue stress. 4. It's usually the small guy that will cause you the most damage. 5. Just because a guy is big, doesn't mean he's bad. 6a. Something worth doing is worth doing right. 6b. If it's not done right, someone will make you re-do it. 6c. You just wasted time having to re-do it. 7. Those that brag the most about anything are usually the ones that are the least unsure about what is bragged on. |

"Keep it simple, stupid"
Within the simple dwells the complex, ya never know what you'll stumble across if you just simply roll with it. |

Mine would have to be "The road to true greatness is the road of service and suffering.".
