All through our conversations you were charming and bright
you managed to lure me with feelings of your insight
as my world has been lonely for so very long
I simply wanted to meet a friend, that's all

I was surprised when we hit it off, enjoyed our nice long talk
I was nervous but then, after some thought
it seemed that you said all that i wanted to hear
It was then I realized, I enjoyed having you near.

As the evening passed, I learned some things about you this is true
I found myself attracted, I wondered if so were you....
It's a very sad situation, trying to find a friend
When it turns out there's a different agenda from the person on the other end.

So I will stay all by myself, I really do not mind
The kind of folk that I attract are sometimes not too kind.
I cannot be what others want, without involving my heart, I find.
It's hard to trust another, when the one's I meet keep lying.
