Psoriatic is tricky and painful, no doubt worsened by the humidity there.

Your type will PARTICULARLY respond to upping the "good" fats: fish oil, avocado, walnut, olive, evening primrose, bilberry

Start drizzling a mix of raw, extra virgin olive oil/walnut/avocado on ever thing(!!!!!), even popcorn! Get into putting all over salads, veg, meats, etc.

Yeah, lived in London almost 8 years. Curries everywhere, just sad that most use CRAP oils, but their herbs rock!!! Forget the name of that street that is littered w/ the good southern style dosa restaurants. They use the best ingredients!!! Get into their dosas and sambhar soups ... DIVINE!!!

Yanno the nightshade family ALL exacerbate/irritate this condition?! They are the best and it really pisses me off ... but they are : tomatoes, potatoes, aubergines, bell peppers. My favs! Cut down on them and the uric acid and bad oils foods!

Yeah, ibuprofen and aspirin can be a Godsend on the pain days and in prevention thereof, but do try to limit them for the sake of your gut. Get into drinking alotta ginger tea and TART cherry juice. A LOT!!!

The cayennes/capsain/capsicum/red peppers will really help the hands and feets circulation, that all this can reach it. So does mustard. Hence, in your food, topical ointments that contain this ... and hand foot baths incorporating!

Peppermint and eucalyptus hand/foot baths and massage will also help. I personally LOATHE wintergreen, you might love it and it is another great one.

YES!!! Yoga is quite effective on many levels for this! Explore/research this ... will be an incredible assist!!!

Across town??? ... Then get on your transport and hook it up!!! You can go every 3 months and get all stocked, love! I needed 2-3 connections to get to my first clinic there, no big woop in well integrated London. C'mon!!!

Bella Donna and nicotine are nightshades too ...

I did wonder if smoking may directly be making things worse. Im not really looking to quit though. And reducing my intake of potatos and other nightshades could be pretty tricky too.

I do love Olive oil. I will be investing in some quality mega virginial stuff to sprinkle around willingly!

That street with the curries, would it be Brick Lane by any chance? Thats actually not all that far from me.

I have got lots of research to be doing, and a lot of new habits to form, and a few old ones to get rid of! Im gonna put a link to this thread in my profile so i can find it easily, because there is lots to get me started and i dont wanna lose this info.

And yeah, ok, fair enough i am being lazy, i could get to that shop pretty easily really, an hour on trains and tubes at most probably.

Hey, our poisons make the ride bearable. Party on, Dan!

I preach in the clinic ..."If you are gonna take the poison, take the antidote"!

Hell, I'm NOT givin' up coffee or the nightshades either!!! But, we can limit/decrease the intakes and up the prescriptions (ie ~ ALL my suggestions!) AND more water, lots more CLEAN water to detox it all!

Bless it all and go on ... the antidotes are key. Life is short, don't cut out your verified best friends!

Doctor to Mark Twain:

"You'll live 10 years longer if you quit smokin' cigars"!

Twain to Doc:

"What would 10 years w/out cigars be"??? ...

You'll see so much improvement if ya just do all the "right" things. The "wrong" things are the fun, yeah??? Who wants to be a stoic monk? Not me ...

... ...

I am looking forward to putting some of these things in place and see an improvement!

Good Luck Dan.......it's a ***** when your fingers won't cooperate. I have rheumatoid arthritis. Normally get by with very little problems, but have been feeling it quite a bit over the last few days myself (stress related). I'm rebelling against meds as well for now, but when it gets bad, I treat with 800 Ibuprofen several times a day for a few days to take down the inflammation. It always gets me over the hump.
I hope some or one of these remedies will help you. Just run it by your family doc, considering you've had some pretty major health problems in the not that distant past. flowerforyou

Another medication is Neurontin, it was developed for siezures but they found out it also is good for many types of pain including joint and muscle pain. You must see a physician and get a RX. It is not a narcotic.

No...it's listed in the PDR as an anti-convulsent(sp)...it works for neuro pain associated with diabeties, fibromyalgia and other nerve problems. I took it for years...sure it works but...least with me after taking it for ten years or more I realized once I stopped it I had no brain during that time....go figure....guess it's a trade off...neurontin is gabapentin new med they use is Lyrica which is pregabalin(sp) very similiar meds to the best of my knowledge (although I'm not a doctor nor a pharmacist - just a patient and a recoverying addice ) Good luck with this stuff....

Try glucosomine & chondrotin works very well for most people with little side effects....also I take an RX naproxene called Etodolac 400mg twice a day and when it's really nasty pain Tramadol which is a non-narcotic pain relieve as listed in the PDR...then again there are days I need the help of hydrocodone...a hot tub works wonders, as well as soaking in a hot tub of epsom salt. And some swear by applie cider vinegar with honey every morning.

Good luck...play safe...and peace

Convulsions are siezures. Anti-convulsant I just thought that was understood in the sentence. Gabapentin is the RX name. Neurontin is the brand name. It is used by physicians from diabetic neuropathy to joint pain, migraine headaches and even depression. It has been on the market for quite sometime. If taken in lower doses you will not have the fatigue. It actually comes in 100mg pills versus the 800 mg that is often prescribed. I have seen hundreds of patients do well with this medication.
Tramadol is now being used frequently but most of the time it is inefffective in the patients I have worked with for any type of serious pain. I am a nurse and over time you give and assess the results of thousands of medications.

Sometimes the judicious use of marijuana may be best anti inflamatory. But then that may be very inflamatory. I am not sure of the judiciousness of it either. Oh well

Damn joints are causing me grief.

What are the best alternative/herbal ways of relieving the pain?

I read that walking is good since it helps the flow of blood .
Walking is both healthy and free . Good luck .drinker .
