I have a cat, and it does nothing to lower the bug and spider population in my house. Not all cats are mousers. I had one cat that never caught a mouse in its life, he just brought bunnies home ( big bunnies). He was kept in the house after that.

Yes, caulk is less expensive, but the foam in a can is easier to use for novices that might not own a caulk gun.

That is a problem with cats. One of mine is a mouser, the other one, not so much. Neither one could care less about bugs. But, many times just having a cat in the house will keep mice out. Dogs too. I had a cat, too, that would bring home his own "pets." Can't tell you how many bunnies, birds, snakes, etc I had to catch growing up and put back outside laugh laugh laugh

Great Stuff (the "foam in a can") costs between $4 and $5 per can, and if you don't use it all at one time, the rest of the unused portion will harden in the straw tube, therefore making it useless for later applications, thus wasting money.

On the other hand, caulk can be purchased for about $2. You don't need the top-of-the-line stuff, just some plain old ordinary, run-of-the-mill, garden variety caulk. What you don't use, tape off the end of the tube tightly with duct tape. Even if the rest of the tube DOES harden and become unusable by the next time you want to use it, you're not out much money. Caulk guns can be purchased for as little as $2. Not only is this also a small investment, but it can be kept and reused repeatedly many, many times.

Just sayin'.

problem is that mice can chew right through that stuff. hell I've seen em chew right through a 2x6 to make a hole into a house. they are persistent little bastids

the only thing I've seen that really works to keep em out is steel wool. They cant chew through that

True enough, if they want in, they gon' be comin' in. Also true that they don't like steel wool, but it's still always best to caulk the hole after stuffing it with the steel wool to block out any draft. Even if they do chew through the caulk, they'll stop when they get to the steel wool, and re-caulking is an easy re-fix.

my bigger problem than mice is scorpions

they seem to be able to find the smallest holes to get in

luckily out here they are the brown scorpions and arent as dangerous. further south they have the black scorpions and those are deadly

Well, with using it as part of my job for the past 27 years, you find out all the uses it provides.

Because it ISN'T a big deal! It's a mouse, for crying out loud!

Exactly!!!

It's not like it's going to attack you in the middle of the night or something.

He'll be perfectly content to just hang out in the wall/ceiling/whatever and leave you alone.

i love mice, and i'm not overly bothered if one makes it in the house...except for the fact that my landlord regularly has pest people come in, and i'm afraid it might hurt the mouse.

the last time i had one, i set a catch-and-release trap and let it go in a field.

they're smaller than my foot; not sure how that's frightening.

I will clean the whole house with bleach.

Their is a canyon next to the house so I think it came from there...but if bleach will deter them I am on it! Let them go to a neighbors house.

Why are the guys in here acting like it is no big deal??

I am not fond of any kind of rodent at all. And yeah because I live alone it scares me....I do not think that it is funny. What am I suppose to do...I cant kill it. I can set a trap but even then....when it goes snap ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

I will have to call a boy to do it for me. Thats final!

I'm with you. A mouse is a big deal!! I say call a man/boy friend over and have him take care of it. Don't set the trap because then the mouse may not be dead, just wounded, then you will have to kill it!!! YIKES! Just call a man!! It is their job anyway, damnit!!!scared

My cats are more interested in computer-mice than furry ones.

No, no, no! Just not true! As already posted I had a mouse, well not attack me, but wake from a sound sleep by crawling across my FACE!

Mice are little disease carrying rodents. They have no boundaries! Besides the one who recently used my face as a short cut, I also had one in my bed many years ago - he was after my Easter bunny which I had laid on my head board, and my sister once shrieked, reached under her covers and hurled a mouse from her leg to the wall. Sis being a softball pitcher, that mouse met his end.

For all of you who keep saying it is just a mouse. Have some sympathy and imagine being awaken by one during the best dream you can remember! Or at least a great deep sleep!!!

Oh and one more thing, my cat does not mouse!

That is so gross and my biggest fear!

I had a friend come over and set traps and totally cleaned everything .....I actually saw it outside my security screen door in my front patio....it looked like it was gonna try to squeeze its way under the 1/4" gab between floor and the door....I screamed and it got scared and ran. This doesn't mean it left for good or doesn't have friends so next home depot trip is to buy weather stripping for that damn door!

Thanks for everyone's feedback!
