my friend and i were talking the other day about me dating again....i am extremely gun shy about jumping back in there again. its been awhile and ive sort of enjoyed being single. although...yeah i get lonely sometimes, which i suppose is normal. anyhow...she was telling me about her daughter having a long distant boyfriend and it really being a good thing....im not real sure that is a good thing or not.....i didnt really understand what she was talking about there and we didnt get the chance to go deeper into it....so any clue what she means by this???????

Just a guess...but I am thinking the good thing would be the fact that they can take their time in getting to know one another. Also...with the distance, they will find out if they are truly meant to be with one another.

It is to my knowledge that a long distance relationship is difficult to but can be done if it is what you really want. I would mean at some point one of you will have to travel a distance to progress this relationship if you or your partner decide to take it to the next level. You would be suprised who and what you might find out here.

Was thinking about that very idea this morning.
Wondering if playing around with a LDR is just hiding or really getting to know a person as a person. I am not sure I have another long distance move in these bones. Think it might be a younger womans's game. Maybe I am hoping some one will see the sensibility of living where it is warm and sunny most of the year without a hurricane blowing it all away regularly |

Long Distance Relationships, can work.... if you, for example, see each other once a month for a few days....or maybe once a fortnight, for a few days...then each goes back to their respective day to day lives.
My son and his partner had a LDR for three years....they met, they dated briefly, he was posted 1400 kms away...every fortnight she would fly to him, or he would leave work and drive to her....then on sunday evening drive back in time for work monday. He was posted overseas, for three months, and then again 6 months.... and it really tested their intentions....what they REALLY wanted. They have lived together for two years now, he has just finished paying off her engagement ring, and has booked the limo, and the hot air balloon..to propose to her. He had already asked her parent's permission two years ago, before they bought their house together... Long distance relationships, can give breathing space for a couple, especially if they have been single for a time, and enjoy their independence. ANd when it's no longer comfortable...then it changes to being closer... |

It is her daughter so she is pretty happy about the whole phone sex and webcam sex thing. But curiously, her daughter and boyfriend sometimes feel as if there is something missing. |

it means they dont go out on dates they probably have phone and cyber sex and talk to each other online and only talk when and if they can you think? while i don't discuss my personal and/or romantic business online, i've been in a long distance relationship for a little over 3 years and mine isn't like that at all. |
