Okay, I'm going to guess we have a lot of various talented people here with different artistic skills.

I personally do a lot of pulled fiber arts and some photography and scrapbooking.

I was designing a some 'gothic' needlepoint and a sampler to do with a poem I wrote a long time ago. I have to admit that I've not been working on those since the woman who was my design mentor died suddenly and unexpectedly. Every time I pull them out I get too sad to continue.

But I really need to get back to that needlepoint I was working on. I had some sketches to make a series of three pieces.

I used to scrapbook and I have numerous completed albums. I don't anymore due to a lack of space. I also used to do cross stitch and I might take that up again. I'd love to learn to knit and cook more than just the basics. Maybe I will put those on my goal list for 2010.

Hi Miss Moon...flowerforyou
That's way cool and you should pick back up with your projects. I believe in getting into the "zone" with that sort of thing... Very theraputic...

I've recently began picking up and assembling assorted tools and materials to check out whether or not I like doing stained glass.
I have a friend who does it semi-proffesionally, and she's encouraging me to re-create some landscape drawings that I made a long time ago and transferring them into stained glass. I've bought a few how-to books so when the weather turns too cold to be outside, I'll give it a go, I think...

If I had a mannequin, I would have to hang it from the rafters with a rope. Otherwise the cats would constantly knock it down. But it would be fun to have one to display costumes and current costume projects.

Yeah moon...it is cool. Picked it up for $30 at a garage sale (worth $350 new). My chick friends constantly bring her old party clothes and swimsuits that they never wear. The down side is my friends at work play it up to mgmt that I am a freak who dresses up my doll. My perspective is that it would be creepier to have a naked mannequin in my house. To me it is just a cool piece of furniture.

But anyway, I have spent about a week restoring her. getting down to repainting her but now that I remolded the boobs...her booty just looks too flat so, today I am gonna make a plaster mache' booty for her and I am gonna make it pop!

I thought about putting a figure out in my garden as a lark. Be kind of cool to have a maniquin. I would think with so many retailers going belly up you could buy them used.

I made a body form of my neighbor wrapping grey tape around her over a t-shirt then cutting it up the sides. Then she stuffed it and put aper mache over it so she could decorated it for her sewing room. Was really pretty cool.

I would love to be able to do life size bronzes or copper work. There is an expensive proposition if there ever was one.

Dang Krup friends like that you don't need enemies. Karma will bite it in the arse sooner or later. I wouldn't worry about it.

I can hardly worry about Kharma Pacific.....

When I lived in Denver....I would roam the neighborhood at night and swipe madonnas from the bathtub shrines from my hispanic neighbors....

Then sneak them back a week or two later completely painted and weather sealed....

I am pretty sure the neighbors went from....

Some A-hole stole our virgin mary...
to
some A-hole made our virgin Mary HAWT!!!!!!!

Actually, I am sure they didn't know what to think.

You know I have always said "I love your Goth"
My stance is and if you truly believe in Goth, if you pick up the artwork and if she has had anything to do with that, her hands will take over. Be sad if you wish but with the sadness continue the work of art . It would be her who would finish the work. Believe in Goth too

Finish it when the time is right, be patient, work through it while doing the art, it can work that way. BE kind to yourself as well, give yourself a break once in a while. I have done needlepoint work myself and the pulled fabric or yarn thing, I have done many differant types of art and am currently painting a series of miniature paintings for a fundraiser to raise money for Higher Horizons, a mental health group that helps people get the things they need to help them lead a more productive life.

What are pulled fiber arts? I'm not familiar with the term. I spin, knit, crochet and weave on top of sewing. If it has to do with fiber animals I will probably eventually dabble in it.

Okay ... I understand photography and scrapbooking, but what is 'pulled fiber arts' ... ?

Sorry to hear of your loss ... I understand - especially when it's sudden. Allow yourself time to deal with what you feel. It will get less with time - and you'll always have a special place in your memory and your heart for that person. You'll continue with the other project when the time's right ...
