Hi Redbeans.

My sister worked at one of the units in Huntsville, several years ago as a guard. After about the third story of inmates throwing poo, pee and other bodily fluids on her I quit asking questions about how is work. There is a prison system in SugarLand that I heard is better maintained, whether that is true or not I do not know, you might want to check them also. Huntsville is a beautiful place to live, I use to go visit her on the weekends and go to Huntsville state park.

Let me know if you need more info and maybe she can give you more firsthand info.

Believe it or not, there are times when workin with female inmates is worse than male. Women can be a heck of alot more violent for one. I've worked with male an female inmates. I'd take a male prison anyday of the week. LOL

Not just the PMS but the women are cattier, tend to do their best to manipulate correction officers more. The she said/she said BS whoa Headache an a half the crap female inmates pull.

With the men is mostly just flashin ya, jackin off in front of ya an the name callin. Phhhtp, been there, done that. Quickest way to stop that behavior is to look em straight in the face say "I ain't impressed" an walk away laughin.

Huntsville is pretty notorious as the worst in Texas

Navasota is a nice little town VERY close to Sam Houston National Forest and Davy Crockett National forest.

Lots of lakes and creeks. A little bit closer to Houston than Dallas but in between the two so easy access to big cities for shopping.

You could do a lot worse than Navasota for a place to live

They are ALWAYS hiring from what I understand.

Went back and read. Conroe is also always hiring.

Conroe, as far as towns go, is nice too I hear. and living in that area you're only a few hors from Houston, Dallas, San Antone, New Orleans and Shreveport

its a bit wet and humid for my tastes but most of the population of Texas lives around that area. And all those tree are spooky to me

one thing to consider, Navasota is close to Houston, so you have to think hurricanes. Its not so close to the coast as to wash away but there'll be some bad storms there every year

on the other hand winters will be fairly mild compared to what your used to. prolly no snow all winter
