i worked for tdcj... in the fields, in the commissary, as a third shift janitor and finally as a warehouseman. the pay sucks and the benefits aren't anything to sing about either. but i guess ur prolly talkin bout workin the other side of the equation in which case u should seriously consider a different career option. but you'll do what you like i'm sure. and if that's what you like, hey, go for it. good luck!

Redd, my ex worked in Gatesville on one of the women's units. We lived on prison property, and had inmates mow our grass.. Safest place in the state to live. If they ever escaped, they knew everyone would shoot them in our little hood.
I worked corrections up here for almost 9 years. When I quit in 2002, my pay was about 46K, with 41 days off a year with pay in additon to my weekends off. I just got tired of it. |

It's not for everyone. From what I see Texas pays purty good. |
