i woke up slow this morning
with a teardrop...in my eye

it was the same one i shed yesterday

and nothing changes, change
even frozen rivers flow
though the destined solid surface
now, has nowhere to go

you spoke to me through angels
angels, with a serpents tongue
and now you whisper distant
like the fading of a drum
you go on and release me
and tomorrow is a shell

this darkness seems to know me
oh god this hurts like hell

and i see you sleeping peaceful
while, all i want to do is fight
painting walls around the monsters
just to get me through the night
the empty space beside me
is my new found prison cell
i can’t escape the thickness
of the indifference
you layer so well
go on and release me
release me to myself
release me from the knowledge
that every fear i caged inside
is swimming for its freedom
in every tear i cry
i’m tumbling ever faster
in the violence of your storm
at the mercy of the current
and my arms are getting worn
look through the icy surface
in time to see the way
that you,
just walk away

this darkness seems to own me
oh god this hurts like hell
