I don't know what you put in the emails, so I can't really give an answer for the possibility of rudeness of just not replying at all. However, if you filled out your profile a little more, it would give the other person something to go on as far as conversational purposes...likes, dislikes, a little personal history. Also, maybe another pic or two would be good.
