acupressure points for headache relief.flowerforyou

Time needed: 2-3 minutes

Benefits: A major acupressure point to relieve general head and face pain, e.g. headache, toothache, sinus pain.

How: The point is located on both hands, about 3-4cm (1.5 inches) in from the edge of the webbing between your thumbs and index fingers. Put your left thumb on the right hand point and your left index finger on the other (palm) side of the webbing to create a pinching technique. Squeeze and massage the point in very small circular movements for 1-2 minutes. Repeat on the other hand.

Tips: Press and knead these points anytime you have pain in your head or face; close your eyes and focus on the points as you press them.

Fresh air and good exercise does it for me (bike ride, long walks).

I'm going to state the obvious....

relieve the tension...:wink: <--------(yes I mean the big O...the endorphins released act as a pain reliever and flush to the muscles to relax them, so if there is tension in your neck, or shoulders it is relieved)

alternatively if that is just way too impossible (goodness knows how it could be!laugh )....some lavender oil gently massaged into the temples, does help.

there are also pressure points around the eyebrows. pinch outside edge eyebrows - squeeze until it becomes less sore then move your way in toward the eye - pinching as you go ... it relaxes the muscles around the eyes.

And YES, the big "O"

And a couple of breathing techniques which change physiology...

+++++++
#1

Breath in through the nose to a count of 4, hold for a count of 7 and exhale through the back of the throat for a count of 8 ... repeat.

+++++++

#2 looks more complicated in writing than it is...it is a series of 13 breaths...

1. Inhale through the mouth - exhale through the mouth
2. In through the mouth - out through the nose
3. In through the nose - out through the nose
4. In through the nose - out through the mouth
5. in mouth - out mouth
6. in mouth - out nose
7. in nose - out nose
8. in nose - out mouth
9. in mouth - out mouth
10. in mouth - out nose
11. in nose - out nose
12. in nose - out mouth
13 in mouth - out mouth

give yourself a couple of minutes to get grounded again
