Hope….
Clings tenuously to my soul Tied to my being by a threadbare string A fragile delicate barely breathing thing It wants, it needs But rarely does it grasp The reality of its fantasy The neediness of its clasp It looks to the future And wants to see the light With eager aspirations To see morning come from night Its always there, It never leaves The bane of my existence It keeps me coming back for more Damn it in its persistence Hope…. Why continue When it’s all in vain There is no better Wish I could abstain But Hope…. It clings.. It needs.. It wants… Believes that happiness is attainable… Believes in love… Believes the unexplainable. |
