Well, not really (unless you really want to come over and cook, we wouldn't complain). So, here's my dilemma. I pulled out a pound of hamburger and want sometime aside from the usual, same old same old. Here's what I have, ingredient-wise:
red pepper squash potatoes onions rice spaghetti and macaroni noodles assortment of cream soups and chicken and beef broth canned corn, grean beans and peas (I hate peas, btw) frozen french fries frozen green beans just about every spice/herb you can imagine (except curry, which we hate) various assortment of cheese (american, provolone, cheddar, colby jack, parmesan) My usual burger standards are swedish meatballs, tacos, spaghetti, burgers, meatloaf. Any other thoughts or ideas? I really don't want to have to stop at the store for anything, though. Thanks! |

Drain off the fat. I add a can of cream of mushroom soup with half a can of beef broth. This is served over noodles. Simple, fast, and kids love it. |

Here's what I would do -
Get out the loaf of bread. Get out the jar of peanut butter. Grab one butter knife out of the drawer. Then I would look in the cupboard- grab a box of cereal. Maybe some grape nuts, or Wheaties, or something with Fiber- nothing sugary. Grab 1 carton of milk. Throw the spoons on the counter. There ya go kids! Have at it!! I am one heck of a cook! |

Wanna get crazy?
Throw a jar of jelly up there on the counter! |

Borrow an egg or two from a neighbor and make a little meatloaf out of all your ingredients. Heat up the beans and corn with a little butter & salt. Throw them there peas out the window! ( I don't like them either) There now ya got a semi healthy meal thats filling! |

One of my family's staples is what we call hamburger hash. Brown hamburger and small diced or sliced potatoes. I either add chopped onion or sprinkle in some onion soup mix after meat is browned and while potatoes are still cooking. A small splash of soy sauce, too.
Here are some ways my family likes it: 1- with scrambled eggs and rolled up in tortillas w/salsa and cheese (version of breakfast hash) 2- put some in flour tortilla, fold over, secure w/toothpicks, deep fry and drain upright on cooling rack; add fresh taco toppings 3- in bowl w/soy sauce or steak sauce 4 - rolled up in tortilla burrito style and placed in oven until it gets a slight crunch. 5 - add can green chile peppers and eat w/corn chips 6 - fry up some shredded cabbage, add to your hash and fold up in bread dough and bake for bierocks |

I make roastbeef hash with left overs from cooking a roast. Along with the roast, potatoes, and onions..i toss in a veggie towards the end, like green beans. A meal in one pan. |

We ended up having:
Beef Nacho Casserole 1 lb. ground beef 1 c. Birds Eye sweet corn, thawed & drained 2 c. crushed tortilla chips, divided 2 c. Kraft Monterey Jack cheese (shredded & divided) 1 jar (12 oz.) chunky salsa 3/4 c. Miracle Whip dressing 1 tbsp. chili powder Heat oven to 350 degrees. Brown meat; drain. Stir in salsa, corn, dressing and chili powder. Layer 1/2 each of meat mixture, chips and cheese in 2 quart casserole. Repeat layers. Bake 20 minutes or until thoroughly heated. Top with shredded lettuce and chopped tomatoes if desired. Makes 6 servings. Instead of the Miracle Whip, we used some queso that we had leftover (I can't figure out the MW anyway, WTF ). And we ended up using extra tortilla chips as scoops. Next time, I think I'd just skip the tortilla chips in the casserole altogether and just use them to scoop. We also used a combo of nacho-flavored mexican cheese blend, extra sharp cheddar and colby-jack instead of just plain jack cheese (what we had in the fridge). Served it with some spanish rice. All in all, it was pretty good. |
