Both r important. Whatever we studied in school, that is applying at working place.

School is to just get your piece of paper that entitles you to make more money and sets you up in the workforce.

Work of course has some things where you apply what you learned in school, but lets be honest, most of the rest is done on the fly and everyday situations really teach you your job.

Something like that.

I'd say school is pretty important to allow you to have the job you want in the workforce

I see it as work is more important then school as without a job you may not be able to afford to go to school in the first place in general.

Overall both are important to me but for different reasons then previously mentioned. I go to work to pay most of my bills. I go to school to get a higher or better education. I am at a point in life where I do not care much about getting a higher paying job once I achieve a certain level of education such as associates, bachelors, masters, doctorate. I go to school to learn while I am following a tract that will get me a piece of paper at some point. That piece of paper means very little to me.

I would rather know what I am doing and not have that paper then not know what I am doing and have it. I have seen too many people out there that have an education but no real life practical knowledge.

The idea of education for better paying jobs is misguided in my opinion. If you educate yourself well you can be your own boss and start a successful company of your own with or without that paper.

One little piece of paper added over 10K a yr, overnight.
And since I received that little piece of paper my income has doubled from what it was.
A 5K investment has paid back over 10k a yr, every yr since 2000.

You tell me if it was a good idea.

Was it easy doing it?

No.

Work full time, school, take care of 2 daughters from 4pm until wife came home around midnight.
Took over 4 yrs to complete a 2 yr degree.

Work, because labor produces capital and builds experience, while school produces debt.

To me it is work, because I need a job to pay my bills.

College will get you to where you want to be. Without education, you will remain where you are for years (Maybe flippin' burger at McDo). Education is a good investment in life and Nobody can take it away from you.

School is more important, at least in my case.

I spend way more than 40 hours a week in class and studying, doing homework, etc. I choose not to work while I go to school so that I can apply myself fully. When I worked, I worked hard. Now that I go to school, I dedicate myself to that 100%.

What's more important? Guess it depends on what your responsiblities are. When I needed to work to support my son, I did. I'm now able to take a few years off to finish getting my degree because I worked so hard. I strongly suggest going to college when you're young though, don't wait like I did. It's scary to think what I could have accomplished in my life if I'd gone sooner!! I might have actually been somebody.ohwell

If I had continued my education (in my 40s), I'd be making triple my income for my present job! Think about that in both "time" and "money."

School is most important. Take it from a single Mom who has had to work 2 jobs to support her son for almost 12 years.

If you want to scrape, and suffer, and fear, you dont persue schooling.

If it comes down to being homeless, and school.. then.. you know the answer.

I dont know why this is even a question.

my ex raised three toddlers (one with Down Syndrome), worked a 40 hour a week job, AND got her degree in four years

it can be done

I tried it: worked, F/T student with 4.0 (GPA chaser) and raised 2 girls. Burned me out in just under 2 years. Hats off to her.

Thank YOU for acknowledging that! flowerforyou

I worked three (sometimes four) jobs while I re-entered the school-force. Granted, I didn't have chitlins at the time...but is was WORK!

I don't regret a single moment of it either. flowerforyou

go to school get the education. You'll get a better paying job. Hoperfully something you enjoy. Work if you need the money to pay bills but get the education.

WORK!

Well, that is if you have a talent that you enjoy and get paid for it. That funny little piece of paper makes people feel like something though.

I have taken lots of not for credit classes just so I could improve at work.

I have owned my own shop for years. I was offered a job at a local union shop. They are moving me to Dallas in a few weeks to run the their production art shop.

I can not knock people for bettering them selves though. Do what you need to do. I just could not afford school when I had the chance to do it.

So I work to learn.
