I went on a 14 hour fast and my bloodwork showed an insulin level as 45.1 and the standard rate is 3-17 uU/ml. My lipid panel came back fine as well as a metab panel. I didn't hear anything back from my doctor on this, but I'm thinking those insulin levels are marked as H (and the only reason I know is that it's posted on an online chart).
In the past I have been diagnosed with PCOS. Anyone have suggestions for a diet that would work for me. |

Recent Studies have shown taking chamomile tea with your meals significantly decreases blood glucose levels and significant inhibition of ALR2 enzyme activity, as well as,reduced sorbitol accumulation, both of which play a role in the development of diabetic complications.

I had Gestational Diabetes durin my last pregnancy. I found that stayin away from carbohydrates an some fruits such as bananas an apples helped keep my glucose levels down. Also whole milk can shoot ur glucose level up.

I'm diabetic also. Phase 2 (with no medication) my doctor doesn't believe in medication.
I know for me right now (with my situation) that STRESS is my biggest enemy -- so I have to be doubly careful. I try but Mystique you know my situation right now so you know it's difficult for me. Stay away from the carbs -- eat fish and chicken and try and stay as calm as possible. P.S. Be very careful with fasting |

i've been diabetic for 25 years now and first things first,stay away from salty foods!.salt will mess your bloodsugar up quicker than sugar will!,2nd learn what your body is telling you!.your body will let you know when it is high or low,3rd i know people will tell you "you can't have sweets",that is BS but learn how much you can and can't have and don't go over the limit.

I'm not a diabetic.... but I AM insulin resistant which is one step closer to diabetes if I understand this right. So I don't want to become a diabetic and I'm looking for information since being insulin resistance makes it hard to lose weight.
I am starting to drink the camomile tea after each meal and I'm going to see if this helps. My weakness certainly has been chinese so I'm trying to learn about the glycemic index of foods and this has to do with how fast the sugar goes into your blood stream. |

There is a difference in 'glycemic index' and glycemic load'. I think that Dr. Rob Thompson really does a nice job explaining the insulin resistant syndrome in that book!! Good Luck! |

Also whole milk can shoot ur glucose level up. i developed gestational diabetic with my son and i took the class when he was around 7yrs as thats when i found out i was a diabetic. i was doing a diet but that wasent enough. any how the class stated that you would normally become a full blown diabetic within the first 2yrs if you had it during your pregancy. so they thought my son was 2yrs and not 7yrs .lol actually apples are good for you.. but bananas have to much potassim |

actually, that is not true...it is the amount of the food that you eat and the time in between the food... if my memory serves me right, I think it was 15 carbs every two hours...anymore than that and the body cannot use it and it will store it... we used to teach to think of the levels as 'blood food' levels. both banana's and apple's have lots of natural sugar in them, as well as fiber. It all comes down to the serving size and the time eaten... You can use one of the stretch bands used for exercising and lower the level of your blood food by stretching it for 15 minutes straight...you can even sit down and do this... talk to a health care professional. |

Daily exercise, try an daily walk, work up to one hour, steady pace.

what alot of conflicting advice from the same sufferas
if your insulin leval is high surely your blood glucose is low, so you need to be eating more naturaly sugary foods to give you the energy you must be lacking?? carbs are the healthy way to take in more sugar all i hear is conflicting advice so i choose to go it alone one day its gonna get me i know, but hey ho |
