In my minds eye
I watched her walk through the sand
Board in hand
I watched her race to the water
As she reached the ocean
It was as if she transformed before my eyes
From human to mermaid
Surf swelling around her
Welcoming her home
Pushing the board ahead as she swam out
Waiting and watching
Anticipation building
For the perfect wave
Cresting, the curl so perfect
She rides the wave
Swaying with the tide
Becoming one with the wave
Hair plastered back
Smile on her face
She is at home
So full of grace
Riding the surf into the shore
She slips off her board
Kicking free she dives below
Swimming like a dolphin , sisters of the sea
Feeling her inner peace
I close my minds eye
Giving her solitude
Allowing her privacy
I take away the memory
Of the sister of the sea
And her morning surf......
