Been in love, have loved, and have been loved, many times, and as I look back at it all I smile and sometimes even laugh.

Love is a lable many people apply to anything but real love.
Love does make you vunerable to some things; death, profound injury, addiction, overwhelming crisis that breaks the spirit of the giver but real love does not give pain and does not feel like pain. Sadly in some couples love really is, maybe always was one sided. We tend to be self preserving and believe what we want to believe. Getting yourself in an un-loving relationship when you are desperate to be loved is very easy. The pain is very real even though you do not know what you are feeling is not love but the longing for love and the desperate fear of never finding it. Sadly some folks don't have a real point of reference of what love even is. They can not love themself so they really don't have a clue what being loved feels like. It took a while; and some very painful attempts, I can tell you once I felt love it did not hurt and it didn't feel like and effort to reciprocate it. While it felt like I was gutted when he died the sensation of real love it is worth feeling again. |
