TAXES

Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table
At which he's fed.

Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes
Are the rule.

Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.

Tax his ties,
Tax his shirt,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.

Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he
Tries to think.

Tax his cigars,
Tax his beers,
If he cries, then
Tax his tears.

Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax his a##

Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won't be done
Till he has no dough.

When he screams and hollers,
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He's good and sore.

Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which he's laid.

Put these words
upon his tomb,
"Taxes drove me
to my doom.."

When he's gone,
Do not relax,
Its time to apply
The inheritance tax!!!!

and our nation was the most prosperous in the world.
We had absolutely no national debt,
had the largest middle class in the world,
and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.
What happened?

I'll tell you what happened.
We started trying to police the world and
trying to take care of everyone else,
and forgot our own.

Lets see 1909. Tons of cheap imigrant labor living in slums. Most of the country without electricity or indoor plumbing. Poor or nonexistent roads. No social security or any kind of saftey net for the poor. unemployed, or single mothers. Limited health care. A small army and an inefective navy. And in twenty years the great depression. Yes lets all go back to the olden days shall we?

Hmmm....sorry but we have many illegal immigrants and legal immigrants
presently living in slums right NOW.There still is alot of cheap illegal labor. In many respects we have limited health care. There were communities of poor people without running water in the city I now live in until 2 years ago. No one knows the number of homeless nationwide. In some parts of the country the unemploymnet rate is the same as the great depression 25%. The teen pregnacy rate is extremely high often leaving children to be taken care of by aging grandparents or the gov. Wow I could go on and on.

I was thinking the same way.laugh

I have a house built that was built in 1903. It used to have an outhouse. The road in front used to be a dirt road. I can tell where the wood burning stove was located. No telephone. No washer and dryer. No microwave. No television or computer. There weren't meds for illnesses. I wouldn't have had good glasses. I wouldn't be wearing my contact lenses. I wouldn't be driving my car. My child wouldn't be getting the education that they are getting. My child would be working in a factory instead. My parents would not still be alive. This is just the tip of the iceburg. Yes, taxes aren't fun but they sure do help the community.

Yeah, our town reassessed our property taxes this year - holy cow -- my tax assessment went up about $60,000 -- and on a house that was built in 1941, and nothing special, believe me, the garage is a pile of kindling that I need to tear down, etc. But, I am a block from the golf course, so guess that "helps"......... or "hurts" hmmmmmmmmmm. noway noway ohwell huh

People are really not happy this year. grumble grumble grumble

well.... 100 years ago we did have a debt, but it was reasonable. Coming from a state with one of the highest (if not the highest) taxes I feel the pain -- frequently and deeply.

We are headed there.

Just not for the same reasons.

This government will not stop taxing till the have 90% of your pay.. Or all of it.

It must tax to survive it is to large.
