Topic: Cop hit and dragged by drunk? | |

BOISE, Idaho — Police in Boise say an officer has been injured after he was hit by a car and dragged a few yards in the city's downtown.
Police say the unidentified officer was struck early Saturday by 30-year-old Jeremias Ramirez, whom they say was drunk at the time. The officer has been treated and released from a hospital. They say the officer tried to approach 25-year-old Scott Macias, whom he witnessed getting into a fight and later punching cars in a parking lot. They say Macias then jumped into Ramirez's car. Boise Police Lt. Alan Cavener says that vehicle made a sudden turn and struck the officer, who grabbed onto the car and was dragged "for about 15 or 20 feet." If the officer grabbed the car and didn't let go, how was he hit and dragged? If I was on the jury this wouldn't even be a consideration. If you grab onto a car and the driver begins to drive off...LET GO, your not gonna win that one! |

He probably grabbed it after getting hit to prevent it from running over him. Yep, a few years in the hooskow to sober up.

either way its assault on a police officer with a deadly weapon and worth a few years in the joint If the driver deliberately swerved into him I would agree, but the cop grabbed the car and didn't let go. Just because he's a cop doesn't mean anything, he's also not intelligent enough to let go. |

Perhaps he didn't let go like a level-headed person because he was in shock. None of us ever knows what we'll do in a strange situation. It could have been along the lines of a "deer in the headlights" syndrome. Regardless, I'm glad he is not dead or maimed and I hope the system punishes the stupid, uncaring, drunk heads.

FRESNO, Calif. — The California Highway Patrol says a police chase in Dinuba has ended with seven people dead, including four children. The patrol says Dinuba police were trying to stop a car Saturday afternoon for a traffic infraction. Patrol Sgt. Jon Baker says the driver went through a stop sign during the pursuit and collided with a pickup truck. The Fresno Bee reports that five children were in the truck and four of them were ejected and died at the scene. It says the surviving child and two adults in that vehicle were taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. The Bee also says all three people in the car being followed by police were killed. Baker says he couldn't confirm if the children who died were related. You know that the cop(s) involved in this will not face any charges. Police need to be REQUIRED to stop pursuit when things start getting crazy like this. The police involved, the city and department need to have their butts sued off. However there are people who think this is ok as long as the "bad guy" is caught. |

Police have all this special training to help them in these situations...just ask one and they'll brag about it. |

Just like a guy with martial arts training, say a black belt, can get his a$$ kicked, or an MMA fighter, that also goes through years of training can get knocked out/tap out in one round, a cop has to deal with variables to survive. I went through over eight years of hand to hand combat training in the army, and also went through it when I became a cop. Should that mean that I'm bulletproof, and that nobody could ever make contact with me? NO. |

Maybe letting go is not that easy when being dragged. I'm so sick of all the bashing of the police. Try living without them. |
