Someone told me recently, I need to lower my standards!!

WTH..............Why should I??

Someone tell me, what standards do you hold??

If you told me that, (You need to lower your standards) what would you
mean??

The person doing the telling, is not up to your standards, or their
perception of who you are, and who they are, appear unbalanced.

It is a levelling statement, for you to be less.

My response....
"Thankyou, for showing me who you are, I don't need to know you."

Standards?

Self respect, personal integrity, and forthright speaking of my
truth...not THE truth, but mine, as I see it.

I've heard this, too, in the past, but I'm not sure I understand what it
means, as everyone has different standards, some expect great physical
beauty in a partner while others desire an intellectual partner while
still others want a good provider or someone who is warm and caring, who
likes to travel or is a homemaker, etc., etc.. None of these desires is
fundamentally right or wrong, and IMHO if you have certain basic needs
that must be met in order for you, personally, to have a fulfilling
relationship, then I don't see any reason to attempt to change your
personal relationship requirements just because someone else says you
"should" change them. It may take you longer to find the right fit, but
when you do, you'll be glad you didn't settle for less than what you
wanted.

I never really wrote it out or anything, but I recently realized I have
really, really high standards. Actually, I don't think they are that
impossibly high, but few people meet them. If someone is telling you to
lower your standards, it means they themself have low standards, don't
think much of themself, and figure they have to settle for what they
find. I really says nothing about you.

I would tell you "I respect your opinion & will give it some
consideration. But At this time I see NO need to compromise my
morals/life expectations/life style. Thank You very much."

Lower your standards, that is a serious issue.
Keep your standards high, makes you who you are. If you think a change
is necc, it should be raising the bar; not lowering it.
Life is supposed to be a challenge, EARN IT. You get what you put out.
Look at the energy post, I think in GENERAL, by michael/mg???? #'s He
says it better than I ever have.

Well, I don't think I have any "STANDARDS" so to speak. I really can't
sit here and tell you what I want as far as standards go. That includes
looks, personality and so on. I really don't know. I guess it will
happen and I will know when it happens. Maybe I'm "gun shy"? Hell, I
don't know.

I tried lowering my standards once.

Wound up married.

Now they're higher than ever.

And not about to budge an inch.

why settle when you can select!!!!!!

One should never lower thier standards in order for the other person to
like you,,, Friend or Lover should accept you as you are,

Good one Lex. I won't bash my Ex. She was a good woman. Her standards
were higher than mine for the most part. But as the ol saying goes, crap
happens!!

Most of my standards have alot to do with my morals.

You dont need to lower your standards..the people around you need to
