Topic: So when...... | |

do you actually start moving on? Been seperated a year, divorce is in the works and on the weekend's my soon to be ex has the kids I still feel lost. Other than being a wife, mother, full time employee, I kind of lost myself and am not sure where to find her. Most people have hobbies. I have a sister who could make a quilt out of two pieces of grass (I swear). Not sure how to figure out what I like and I'm kind of stuck. Any guidance from the Minglers out there. Reading is good |

Bellydancing!!! It's a hoot, and fun, and you get to feel all female, and sexy....even when you look at the other women learning, and they all look like a gazelle, and you feel like an epileptic giraffe! ...D@mn! I need to try that! YES!!!!!!! I did the 7 veil dance...well tried to learn it....OMG!!!!!!!!!!! I nearly choked myself, tied my feet together....cut off my circulation!!!!!! And in the meantime all the other ladies looked sultry and seductive, and there's me gurgling at the back of the room, needing a medic!!!!!! |

Chrissy, I don't know where you live, or what's available in your area....so some suggestions may not fit you... Bellydancing!!! It's a hoot, and fun, and you get to feel all female, and sexy....even when you look at the other women learning, and they all look like a gazelle, and you feel like an epileptic giraffe! It's such a laugh, and the other women are having as much fun...friendships may bloom.. Poledancing....same thing, it develops fitness, you get to feel sexy, it's fun, and hilarious! Burlesque....as above. Salsa, anything that helps you feel sexy, and totally female. Pottery....learn how to throw a pot, (and not the saucepan variety out of frustration).....create....tap into the inner artist. Painting lessons... Yoga....or some naturopathy course... Horse riding lessons... Indoor wall climbing, that can grow into absailing... The best part of the ending of the journey you just took...(marriage)...is that now there are no boundaries, as to what you want to do!!! You get to be anything you want to be!!!! those are all really good ideas |

I lost 3 family members in three years in the 1990's. I took up crafts and even started my own business. I never knew I was creative until that point. |

Mikey, I had a blast cutting branches this weekend. I've decided to buy a chainsaw. I do love power tools. If ya really like power tools get yourself a welder and take up sculpting. |

I understand where you are coming from, although I don't get the weekend to try something new. My kids are pretty much always with me. The thing I have struggled with the most lately is not having any time to even breathe without someone watching me do it. Not to say one situation is any worse than the other, it's all relative. After a year of being divorced I thought I was all healed etc.....couldn't have been further from the truth. 2.5+ years later, I'm still chugging along trying to find my path, albeit in a much healthier way. All I can say my dear is give it time. Try new things like you plan to and enjoy life. There will be times when it seems like you backstep, and you will......but just keep moving on.
P.S. I'm with you on the hobby thing. I have as yet to find something new that fits me. It's usually something for the kids and we do have fun. Just kind of lost "me" over the years. This is a good reminder that we really should take the time to do "me" things. |
