That would be much closer to right, yeah. My ideal first date? Combing the city's used bookstores for good finds, then sitting with our treasures over coffee, discussing them and our favorite books.

THAT? Would be heaven. But... I don't expect to ever actually get that. This isn't self-pity, either. Simply fact.

Course, at the moment, with my face all busted up, I'm not really in the place where I expect to even be asked to McDonalds. laugh

And thank you for the compliments. embarassed

come to wv, a lot of toothless people here....laugh

seriously, i went to a bookstore once with a guy. he was browsing for a programming book. good times.

Used bookstores are the best, you can find some great books. Even the printing is different on the older books-not printed in China.

I like going to the pub and getting pissed. No better setting to get chatting.

Unless she is a nun or something.

If it was a nun, i would take her to the park and go on the swings instead.

But i would turn up drunk.

LMAO! Here, "pissed" means mad. Not really a good mix for a date, a pub and being pissed. laugh

Haha. I'm glad I can get it fixed today (SOOOO glad), but I have no idea what I'm gonna do about the hillbilly smile. Pfft. I hate being poor.

The smell of a used bookstore is like a major aphrodisiac for me. drool And browsing for books... with a beautiful man... yeah... talk about a dream come true!

Hey, we all have our dreams, demmit.

So, I finally got to review my post below about being asked on dates, and I must say I was pretty saddened by the fact that at least two pages was dedicated to men wondering what a date even IS. surprised

See, THIS is what I meant. How can a man ask a woman on a date if he doesn't even know what a date IS?

So, fellas, this is for you. It's really quite simple. If you ask a woman to go with you somewhere and do something that doesn't involve booze and instant, expected sex, it's a date. If you can TALK to each-other and get to KNOW each-other, it's a date.

Dinner and a movie = Date.
Browsing a bookstore and coffee = Date.
McDonalds and an indie show = Date.
Picknick = Date.
Grocery shopping and you and/or her making dinner at home and a video rental = Date.

Why is this so hard for you guys anyway? frustrated

To me a date no matter where and what we are doing is an occasion to either get to know the person your on the date with if you just met them or to treat your special person to a different venue that we usually do but most of all do something together we both enjoy,

What if it involves a group of people, but the other person asks you specifically, if you would like to join them in whatever they are doing?

Still a date, if the guy asks you specifically to go with him.

And Maud, no I didn't know that... but I have a feeling I'm going to learn.

-insert evil laugh here....?-
I did

I'd like to be able to go to a bookstore for a date. The only problem is that I'd ignore the date to find books. LOL!

Did get invited to a "date" at McD's. Then was told he didn't have enough, except for drinks. That guy sooooo didn't happen again.

I'm enjoying James Rollins right now. Like Cussler, and then Sci-Fi/Fantasy in general. And I'm on a military kick right now. shades

Any meeting or activity where 2 people are looking for a possible future relationship with each other can be considered a date. Whether it's having a quick cup of coffee or going to an expensive restaurant.

I like the kind of date where we go to her house and she cooks dinner and gives me the remote to watch football while she does dishes

and brings me a fresh beer without being asked

When two who have interacted via email, phone and decide to meet in person and deal with the "initial viewing" of each other through sometimes awkward conversation...would be the first date.
