am I the only one that has a bit of a problem with parents out running around with their 6-8 year old children at 11:30 at night? Even if it is summer? Or it is old fashioned to think kids that age ought to be in bed at a more appropriate time?

My dad made us go to bed at 7:00 pm every single night- summers, weekends, he didn't care. So I have no idea what time is "normal" for kids to be in bed.

Maybe their parents are withholding sleep to keep them tired all the time. Might be a good strategy to try. Muahahah.

While I would think that 7:00 pm is very early, I just don't think it is all that healthy to keep children that young out that late. If you are having a family outing, it should be timed better. Or else get a baby sitter. I'm guessing by the responses that I'm just old fashioned.

11:30at nite is a bit late for any child

i had a neighbor that had a daughter that was running outside at 11pm wanting to play and she was 5yrs old. this was 24yrs ago. no one is going to be outside that late letting there kid to play..

well u never know if it was an anomaly...maybe other nights the kids went to bed at a decent hour...
summers my kiddo has been up late evenings when he was young, but the month school started, we got back on the routine...

I think that is a little late for that age but if it's a special event and they are supervised -- then ok.

The bigger problem is unsupervised children in general regardless of the season. Times have changed and the old school rule of thumb: "In the house when the street lights come on" is no longer safe. Kids are at risk, or causing trouble, more often then when I was a kid.

Sorry I missed WITH parents,,,,,then its cool as long as they try and get their last few days before school starts off to bed earlier so they can be awake for school.

And as for a  by raped, it shows concern for that NOT to happen, But you did already know that,wink..

yeah we hated it, everyone else was out playing and we were in bed.

i used to work at walmart and sometimes parents would come in at 2 am with their kids- in pajamas- to shop. now that is awful, i think. unless it's an emergency or something, but i really don't think it was.

I'm not as strict with my child's bedtime in the summer but I try to keep it close to the usual time. I let my child stay up late if something special is going on though.

Yes, 11:30 is late for 6-8 year olds. They sure are going to be crabby the next day.laugh
