OK... Steralised isn't what they need... She needs a complete hysterecomy. Throw her #$@# uterus away and then throw them both iin prison. Maybe if we were a barbaric third world country or Nazi Germany that would be possible... here the children still need to be cared for. |

I'm sorry for the time it took me to rply to various views............. I dined with my children today, and just got back. My view on this is We are all at fault! I was raised to believe that the rearing of a child or children is down to the "village" e.g, extended family! As a child I had various aunts and uncles that my mother could call on at anytime to babysit. Gone are the days when neighbours were helpful and we all looked out for each other, I do despair at the state of our society when we no longer care about each other. This aside, the system has been failing our youngsters for many years, we have social workers who are clearly not experienced in their jobs ( yet they hold the key to making decisions that will affect countless numbers of people) You only have to look at past cases where Social Services messed up to realise that once someone assumes the position of a Social Worker they cease to let the milk of human kindness and common sense flow. Most of these "professionals" have the right qualifications for the job on paper but when it comes down to the wire, they fail!! They need to look at each case as an individual case and stop placing everyone under the same umbrella (no two families are alike) it is time these people started thinking outside of the box!! Look beyond this young woman's "crime" and start asking questions, as some of the respondents to this post have quite rightly said, she may be going through some emotional trauma which is causing her to think irrationally............ This is brilliant. |

Yes Bonny, it does take a village to raise a child, as as stated in a couple of poster's comments, in a way we do help raise other's children, even if only in a 'removed' sense, in taxes. There's something very heartbreaking that stands out in this article, and situation.....and PacificStar heard it also... From what information we have a young girl was placed in care...she matured, (chronologically)...and did what many young women do, in similar situations...she created 'family' through a partner and a children. I wonder if her very young motivation initially was attempting to replace that which she never had, in her own childhood. Who can know what skills she had for nurturing, who can say how much HEALTHY role modelling she had received in her upbringing? I wonder if the message she received growing up was one of 'not being resposible for one's actions'...in that obviously she was also a child at risk, to be romoved from home and placed in care. The sister's attitude also reflects this mindset. I also wonder with the sister's justification in her quote..." She should be steralised." and the mother's reply to her sister, 'I don't give a ****"...I wonder if there has been some editing to that retort from the mother, and if it's possible that the words.."what you think" were deleted. That's what I was alluding to, with the 'slant' placed upon this very sad story. This has become a generational issue. The mother placed in care, the children placed in care.....on and on and on...dependency on the system for support...financial...etc. I hear so much sadness in this story. |
