i just wanted to make it completely clear that i have a passion for rockabilly unbridled by any other.

i the music so much, i ran a radio show for a few years blasting it all over the net.

the live shows are the best with beer swiggin band mates pomps and western shirts (which will always make me laugh) and chicks in bouffant hair and pencil skirts.

i heart it so much...

i want it played at my wedding AND funeral.

okay i'm done.

Guys n Dolls... meet..

Devil Doll.

would you consider the "Stray Cats" to be rockabilly? Just curious... no pun/malice/sarcasm intended...

yes actually it is. but brian setzer transitioned into big band from rockabilly which is just as good.

but he's got another band now and is back into that bluegrass roots he loved so much.

contrary to popular belief, the stray cats were rockabilly.

the horrorpops however.. are not.

i dont care what anyone says. that band is plain ole pop.

And to think "the Stray Cats" was crammed down my throat in HS. There is so much more to Rockabilly than Stray Cats!

I would swear Madness had a lot of Rockabilly influence more than the Blues Brothers but then again they are UK!

I love Brian Setzer. The big band swing thing he did was really good. I did not know that he was starting a bluegrass band. How cool is that? Do you like Dwight Yoakom?

i'd have to disagree with you on the whole madness situation. i think madness has nothing to do with rockabilly.

Madness was one of the originators of ska. i was a huge madness fan back in the day.

Johnny Cash was always more Country than Elvis, even when they were both at Sun. Cash remained Country. Elvis moved from Rockabilly to straight-forward Rock & Roll. be seeing you

once again.. disagreein with you..

elvis went from Country, to rock n roll then in his later years to gospel.

rockabilly is more country than rock n roll.

cash stayed country but took the power of surf guitar and mixed it in to create a different sound.

there are others suck as dick dale and the deltones and link wray who honed the sound more with a beach feel to it creating surf.

but thats a whole other history lesson.

rockabilly didn't actually formulate until years later as a tribute to the older bands of the era.

I haven't really listened to alot of Dwight Yoakom's stuff but for some reason i find myself not liking newer country. the only country i like is the very old very blue grass blues based country.

I really don't like newer country either. Dwight has been around for awhile. His idol is Buck Owens. They are both from Bakersfield. It is country but it definately has a rockabilly edge. The cd guitars and cadillacs is my favorite. There is a radio station here in eastern Ky. that plays the best bluegrass plus other things. http://www.appalshop.org/wmmt/ . You can listen to it on your computer. I think you will like it....smokin
