How about the Atlantic, Kid? Norfolk at the mouth of the Chesapeake. We
can pick upa JSH crew as we move NE, and then on to Europe and the Med.

Y'know, we've talked about this before and no one actually says,
seriously, "OK, I'm in!" grumble grumble grumble

What are you all waiting for????

Cruising is not expensive.... I mean, where are you going to spend money
when you are in the middle of an ocean?

It's the bills you have when your away and a bit of spending money when
you arrive. I'm working on it!

Bills only come because we've incurred obligations. Jobs can be had
anywhere int he world.

Doesn't anybody just take off for adventure anymore?

Kid, you are young, not ever married...the world lies before you!!!

It doesn't have to be sailing, of course. The open road lies before you.
Freighters will take you anywhere in the world. I have friends who
hitchhike at the general aviation airports....

Do it!!!!!

I don't want to sound like I'm making excuses but being self employed
and having 3 mortages does tend to tie you up a bit.
I'm tired of it and am making an effort to reduce the load to a
managable level. Hopefully by this fall I'll be ready to hit the open
road again!! It's been 7 years since the last road trip and that one was
over 2 months and 27,000 kms of driving around North America just
because I could.drinker

Soon!!bigsmile

will be heading out to another competition tomorrow with a bunch of other mindless blood thirsty gun nut types. hope i live thru it.
Do you know that there hasent been a fatal accident in the past 107 years of sanctioned competition shooting events? can any other sport make that boast? They are constantly improving the safety on ranges. the latest incarnation is to use a piece of weed whip string sticking about 6" past each end of the the barrel of any weapon not being fired. this way, an offocial can tell at a glance that a weapon is safe. back in the day we would take the bolt out of the rifle when not firing.

Rambill I have been on the trap team and I have hunted small and large game for years at my parents and grandparents farms. It's good to stay in practice. I just saw the other day on the news that the insurgents are being ordered by their leaders to begin hitting targets outside of Iraq. That included Israel and America. It would be a good idea for everyone to stay sharp by target shooting like you are doing.drinker drinker

and no one says,

hubris, or vanity, or tribalism, or manipulation,
or blackmail, or tongue, or fists, or pettiness, or superiority.

the tongue is also a sword, and it can kill,
and there are many forms of unpleasant death
which exceed the simplicity of traditional armament.

and even a brilliant idea and hope can die of exhaustion
as silence can starve the brave.

the responsibility of arbitration of the worlds
ills is not to be lightly entrusted neither to the
oracle, the pope, nor the majority opinion.

it is a conundrum. "it baffles science" - W. C. Fields

where will you be during the next Inquisition?
will you rush to combat, or ride it out in hiding?
what weapons will you choose and how will you survive?

....."silence starves the brave...."

brave ....a very difficult word for me. one i use rarely as it implies so much food for the ego....instead i choose conscience

silence starves the conscience...from the cradle to the grave

Oceans ... Adventure is not dead ... its right here.

My feet itch all the time to travel and see the world.

I have no issue selling everything (apart from three items which I am very attached to) to get on a motorbike and either ride down to Portugal or Greece or whereever in search of new experiences and new people.

I tell you, if you turned up at the Tilbury Docks in your boat, you would have trouble getting me off it!!

Sailing the Med has always been a desire of mine.

If you have room for a cook, cleaner, deckhand and sometime skipper, then come on over .. the only condition I have is that I have a week off every month to retire to my batcave.

I WANT ADVENTURE!!!! NOW!!!! (well from Monday afternoon, as Im happy being here now)
