The planetary line up on December 21, 2012 will be a spectacular event, not the end of the world as the movie depicts.
yes and this is my birthday and that day is when the Mayan longcount(calander)ended. They predicted the end of the world on that day centuries ago. Scary!

they went into a lot of detail on that in some of my highschool and college courses but i never worried because i can't trust a calender that doesn't have a bikini-clad woman on it.
OR TRACTOR ON IT...........

Spectacular indeed.

However what do you think will happen our stars coronal mass - with the gravitational mass points of all the planets on the same side of the sun?

Would it be possible it will eject the solar flare of all solar flares?

What will the gravitational tides do to the earths crust? (Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus) All planets with large mass and gravitational wells and all on one side of the earth.

Could it actually change orbital vectors for some of the planets or the moons orbiting those planets by tweeking their stability.

Who knows? It's amazing to think about, though. I think for sure, though, weather major or minor, the world WILL change that day, somehow... never the same again.

(Edited cuz I said "fer sure" WAY too many times...)

As far as orbital vectors I'm not sure there's enough mass in a solar flare to permit for the physics but let me cunsult the ol' college books!

of course all of the above could happen. This is an event that hasn't happened for 26,000 years.... thats what is so spectacular. Things can't stay the same forever.

All I have to say is that I started my period today...almost an entire week early. So ya'll can just go ahead and make fun of superstitions and stuff like that...most of them are rooted in actual occurences that where passed down from generation to generation and got just a tad bit blown out of proportion over the centuries. Now please excuse me while I down a handful of Tylenol to kill my cramps and get some rest before I poison the wells and render livestock infertile.

That must be the gravitational pull from the moon working on it!laugh

Yeah it's possible if you have a tidal flow!rofl

Orbital vectors would not be changed by solar flares... Would require a truely massive one (orders of magnatude in the realm of a small nova I think).

But several interacting gravitational fields interacting with each other (do they increase each others effects)

What if... Jupiter actually became the recipiant of a massive solar flare... Could it cause a Jupiter to become a proto-star (brown dwarf) and heat the Jovian moons... Could we then live on them. (One of them has surface ice (h2o) if heated it might make a nice place to live).

If that's the case, you deserve special treatment for being so smart. I will make double sure that the milk in your fridge turns sour before everyone else's.

Our cycles, (not just our periods) are closely connected to the cycles of nature.. we all effected by what is going on in the cosmos...

are you sure? I was so hoping that it would be the end. I am serious.

It could be the end of the world as we know it, not necessarily the destruction of the world...
