Ya know...my father has told me my whole life Im Irish... But I got to researching my last name..and its Scottish!!! I think he would s**t himself if he knew the truth..

Oklahoma. LoL My dad's parents are rumored to have been born in Ireland. BUT he was always drunk when he told the story..and listening to Patsy Cline. So Im not sure how much of it was true or just the booze talking.

For all you poopooers, listen up. Family history is a MAJOR part of who we are, from our parents to our ancestors and everyone in-between. We all come from somewhere, and have every right to be proud of our family heritages. So THERE! Heritages! Thats an important word. You are completely and entirely allowed to be proud of where your roots are from. I have Irish heritage! My surname is VERY Irish. But i am English, as i was born in England. If you were born in America, you are American. Simples.

There's so much cross-breeding back and forth. I grew up hearing mac was Scottish and mc was Irish. But the genealogy book says it was so interchanged it doesn't matter. Just makes it more fun to track.

Just makes it more fun to track. see I heard the same thing. Im a "Mc" not a "Mac"..so I, like Im assuming my father did, took it for Irish...but when I traced it, it turned up Scottish. So strange...and his parents both killed over before I had a chance to meet them so I have noone to confirm it!

Dont forget Scotland and Ireland are only a few hundred miles away from eachother as well. Not only was/is there interbreeding, there is migration back and forth.
