If you are truly a nice guy why do you feel the need to sooo defend your niceness? Nice counts! Actually to me it counts a lot. If you are also a GOOD listener, decent looking,(beauty being in the eye...),have something other than nice to bring into the relationship then you should be fine in your own skin. We must each be comfortable with who we are in order to find comfort, friendship, love with another.

If you are a creep claiming 'nice' then shame on you!

Well I must be blessed

I met a guy who is truly nice through words alone. E-mails. Phone conversations. He is truly a nice guy

I think when we meet I'll turn him into a "bad guy"devil

And I haven't learned how to do quotes yet, but what I was asking is does the opinion that nice guys are cupcakes, which I take as a negative, mean that being patsal believes being a dick is superior. And I only use the term dick because I'm trying to avoid a cussword that's the equivelant.

Nice guys do not finish last, bad guys do not finish last...everyone finishes where they put themselves. Which in turn means that people posting "nice guys finish last" type posts, actually in turn, put themselves last.

Welcome to the back of the line.

laugh funny.

In my area it's a big compliment for a man to say that another man is a "good guy". You hear them say, "Yeah, so and so is a good guy."

To me that means a man with character and integrity.

That's the kind of man that I like.

pitchfork How do you know he does not have a bit of the devil in him already? The thing is, being truly a truly "nice person" and having a bit of the devil/wild side are not mutually exclusive.

As far as believing me about myself being a nice guy, I don't really care. It's just the assumption or comments that nice guy's are less desirable that bothers me. As far as my gig goes I'm retired from the rat race and continuing on my own terms with an education centered around creative writing. And Manson wasn't a hippie, but a gutter punk in hippie clothing.

Part of the problem is that the term "nice guy" is almost always attached to a complaint -- i.e., "I'm a nice guy, why can't I find anybody?"

It's put out there almost as if women were supposed to see "nice guy" and immediately go "Hey, I should get to know him! He sounds nice!"

But the reality, if you talk to the women who read and/or reply to these kinds of posts, is more along the lines of: "He's kind of a whiner. Not someobody I could see myself being interested in."

So, from what I've seen, the "nice guy" complaint is more or less equivalent to shooting yourself in the foot.

You don't know nearly as much about Manson as I do...trust me, he was a hippy. My comment still stands.

The only assumption that I've seen so far is that you assume you're a nice guy. No one has any proof of this claim. Do you have any idea how many times a week these women read or hear some guy telling them he's nice? Guess what? Those of us that have been around here for awhile have found that most that claim to be nice are not.

I'm not saying you are not a nice man, but no one around here will take you at your first word.

As far as your claim that women believe a genuine nice man is less than desirable I disagree! The problem is finding the genuine article. Trust me, they'll flock to him if he is.

That he did, and he was hardly a serial killer worthy of the attention he has gained. He had a very artistic side to him, albeit the music sucked horribly...he still tried.
