How do you tell someone that you are not interested in them without being hurtful?

just say "no offense" first.

I say "I hope you understand but I'm just not into you like that."

or something to those lines.

i don't say crap like "lets just be friends" because thats so cliche and in that way, hurtful.

i disappear.

I'm not interested.

I do that too.

i think with each individual guy it'd be different, but i find that most men can pickup quite easily when a gal isn't interested in them and find i don't have to say anything at all, they just stop calling or coming by.

1) Tell them.
2) List all their good qualities first, especially those a woman may find attractive (if they have any of the latter...)
3) Then be very clear as to why you aren't interested, "at this time".
4) If they persist, then list for them what you've done to try and make the parting as comfortable for them as possible, then repeat why you are not interested.
5) If they STILL persist, then, hey, it's time to unleash the "beotch".
If you find it difficult to be a beotch, then enlist the help of a friend who can, BUT ONLY BY PHONE. They should not identify themselves, just lay it on the line.
...and call the cops, if they're lurking in the shrubbery surrounding your house at night, or showing up everywhere you go, by some strange "coincidence".
