What do you think a potential date has the right to know about your personal sitiuation? Finacial, health, personal facts about family members, your values, typical day?

A potential date? They have the "right" to know exactly how much I'm comfortable divulging, which at that point would be not a whole lot about those particular subjects.

After you've been dating a while, sure, but before, nuh uh.

i believe that a date has the right to ask any question that they see fit.....but also, it is my right to say that it is none of their business

a date is to get to know someone to see if you want to keep seeing them...so, they only NEED enough info to make that decision until you know each other better

I would agree with that, but the good news is, if this person lacks the couth to know whats appropriate, Ill catch that without probing.

The amount of information shared is dependent on how serious the relationship is getting.

A couple of dates are nothing (at first) and criminal history (violence, theft) is the MINIMUM that I would want to know -- or share if I had a history; otherwise, "nun ya"! tongue2

For me, kids are an issue. I want to know up front since I don’t date men with kids but I ask that waaaay before the possibility of a date arises. In the spirit of fairness, I also make sure he knows I don’t want kids of my own in case that is a priority for him. There is no sense in wasting our time.

As dating turns to a relationship and two people think there is the potential for a future, really big issues should be shared: credit history, banking management, employment history, and divorces -- witness protection programs. tongue2

I only share, or want to know, what effects me at that time. I don’t want to put the cart before the horse and share too much personal information nor do I want the other person to feel pressured as well.

But she did not even say date. She said "potential date." Are we supposed to be the subject of an e-mail or telephone interrogation?

Sounds like fun. Count me in. whoa

I'm terrible about volunteering information. But, if I'm trying to get to know some one, I will answer any question honestly. That's all part of the process.
